New family member, Jack Russell Terrior

9 weeks old and quite smart already. Pretty tired due to all the playing with the kids and the wife and I. Most puppies like to run and dissapear but this little girl will follow you. If you stop she'll sniff around the area but stay close. Once you start walking again she'll come right back to you and walk with you.
Hopefully she'll eventually be able to bring me a beer

Cute! One of the few small dog breeds I would consider. The other being another miniature pincher or a manchester terrier.

they Sleep?

the ones I have seen/been around have more energy than a 4 year old child

I have never heard anything bad about them

We have a rat tail terror. that's seven years old. She has been running the house for some time.

Yep, one percent of the time she sleeps. The rest of the time she shares her needle teeth. Shes a bed hog too. I kept moving over and she would move up against me. Pretty soon I was on the edge of the bed. Must be the body heat. Been doi9ng alot of research.

We have 2 JR's and love them to death. Very smart dogs. Easy to train and teach them to do tricks. Supposed to not be good with small children but we have never had any problems. We taught them when they were puppies to not be food aggresive or bite when pulled/tugged on. It is all in the training. They don't drool or shed excessively and the best part about small dogs is small poop. Much easier to clean up after. :P

I sheite you not, this pup is so smart (as im sure they all are) we already got her to not be agressive with food. I took the pigs ear that she chewed up my finger over from her and she just wagged her tail and was patient till I gave it back. I think working with her and her realizing that we really dont want it and food is plentiful helps. We have a 17 month old son and a 3 year old daughter and she has been good around them so far.

We have a female Rotty pup who thinks she is a JRT. Pup is absolutely bonkers. I need to find some Rotties that she can hang out with. Here is a pic of her up in my recliner, having a beer. Wonder where she learned that? I agree, JRTs are the best small breed.

German Shepherds were always my thing but for a small dog a JRT is hard to beat. Although i also had a miniature pincher i was real fond of like someone else mentioned.
I've also had a Rottweiler...
She was one stubborn dog. Yet once i got the lesson across she never forgot it. Rotty's can be real hardheaded. But they have the coolest gait of any dog to me...
Hell, I'm a dog person for sure...
Creator...does she got a name yet? Come on...Give it up!....

Her name is Gadget. Thats what the original owner called her so we kept the name. GO GO GADGET for sure. Figure being so young its good to keep things as same as possible.

Creator, you ain't gotta explain that name...! That's a good name!

Funny how sometimes the toughest guys you'd ever wanna meet got the silliest goochie goo type dog names, ya' know?
And then the other guys that are 'lightest on their feet' got some poodle named, "KILLER!"

Whenever i've been given a dog i just stuck with their current name also [long as i could yell it out in mixed company!]. Seems best...never did like it when they'd look at me like, "What the hell you talking about..?"

I had a Jack russel named mitzy they are not scared of anything that dog chased neighbors Bull Mastiff out of the yard as a pup bit a dog trainer in the butt chewed threw a steel cable dog chain got in a fight with a Hungarian Pointer in obediance class decimated the squieral population man I miss that dog the are a 100MPH dog that dont no the word fear

My family's had Jacks for the last ten years, and we are on our second and third ones now. Awesome dogs. They'll never grow up.

The girls seem to enjoy hunting more. Mine has cleared the backyard of vermin and seems to bring in something new every few days, while the male doesn't seem to enthused about hunting.

Whoever had a hand in creating this breed sure had some interesting ideas about dogs.

My sister's JRT bitch rules the local dog park. I have seen that little firecracker back up dogs many times her size. They're the "C-4" of canines.
