Is the +P+ Isreali ammo safe for my 9mm AR15?
I was just curious if this ammo would be safe in a Rock River Arms 9mm that I am building. It is going to be an SBR with a 10.5" barrel.
Thanks, Aaron

yes. Some people believe the israeli is corrosive, so clean your rifle well after shooting. Not difficult with a 9mm ar as it is blowback and has no gas system.

Are you asking about the Israeli surplus from Southern ammo?
If so, here is my experience with the stuff. Not really "+P+". Just regular Nato-spec stuff. Has VERY hard primers. Not really reliable out of anything except open-bolt subguns. My Sterling and Swedish K love it. I can't get it to go 'bang' reliably in any pistol. Most that I got was '70's date Israeli manufacture. That's non-corrosive. But there is some '50's RG, '60's FN, and some of the horribly corrosive Egyptian mixed in for grins and giggles. There's a reason it's cheap. 1gewehr

My buddy just ordered 2000rnds for his NFA Mac. I think he paid like $75 a thousand. He still hasn't told me where yet. I'll have to bug him about it some more. Sig, if I can get it out of him, I'll let you know.

I think your buddy needs to do some research before he buys ammo. 9mm +P+ ammo is much to hot for a MAC. It was made for guns with heavy bolts and heavy barrels. Those guns (MACs) were made for standard velocity ammunition. Their barrels are thin and so is the chamber area and the bolt is light with a light recoil spring. It will raise the rate of fire significantly to the point of being uncontrollable and it will beat the hell out of his gun in short order. |

I ran corrosion tests on this stuff a while back and most of it is corrossive.
Also, several folks have had squibs with this ammo, myself included. Not a big deal in the UZI, as the bbl is thick and easily replaced, but wouldn't be fun in anything thin or with a locking bolt. Go with God.
