STG 58 by CAI, US parts count

I need to know what parts in my gun are US. I want to use the cheap mags, but how can I tell what in the gun is US made and what is not. I have ordered a gas piston from DSA so thats 1. The gun was assembled from STG-58 parts, on an Imbel rec. All metric as far as I can tell.

The only sure way is to disassemble (careful here) the H/S/T. CAI marks theirs w/a C usually. Even CAI sometimes ahs trouble remembering.

The IMBEL is NOT US-made, so you're already out one part. If the H/S/T is US-made, it probably goes like this:

H/S/T (3)
PG (CAI actually make a decent PG now, also C-marked)
Floorplate
Follower
I don't know for certain if the follower/floorplate are likewise marked.

Ergo, you must otherwise convert this to use standard imported metric magazines.

Your piston MAY be CAI: is it a two-piece piston? If so, definitely CAI, counts as one piece.

options:
DSA Piston
Penguin buttstock

just for a start.

My hand guard looks new, as does the stock. Would they be marked as well?

Remove the buttplate. A C is a CAI stock. I don't know if the CAI HG is marked. Does it have an odd pebbled finish?

Its fairly smooth. I checked it out, on the inside it has a "C" in both halves. My hammer has a "C" but without dissassembling the rest of the lower, I cant see anything on the trigger or sear. Thanks for your help.

cocking handle

I get a kick out of this US parts thing. What a waste of time and money. Even we can't figure out what is US. I hope BATF can.

Hey,
I'm new to The FAL Files but own a couple FAL's. I just bought one from CAI (STG-58 parts on Imbel receiver)and on mine the US parts are as follows,
Hammer
Sear
Butt stock
pistol grip
hand guards
charging handle
gas piston(two piece)
that's all seven. I hope this helps you out.

Is there an easy way to check the charging handle? Mine has the aluminum knob. This is my first FAL, but the first time I saw one two years ago, I had to have it.
