Hints on FN49 barrel swap

Got a FN49 that I'm thinking about replacing the barrel on. I've read on another site that it's pretty simple, just unscrew old bbl, swap out parts, screw in new bbl. Anyone know about adjustment for headspace? Is it this easy? Thanks

I have not barreled an FN49 before, but I do know that the headspace is the same as the FAL. The locking shoulder looks slightly different but is the same system and same location. I have heard that the receiver and barrel have witness marks on them to line up. Dont see how that could be correct from rifle to rifle, will have to strip my AL 30.06 down and check. Good luck, Is yours Egyptian? Would like to pick up one of each, heheheheheh..........

Thanks. Yes it's an Egyptian 8mm. They are not hard to find. For instance I could send you this one and some cash for your AL 30-06, hehehe

I rebarreled my Egyptian about 10 years ago,
with a new bbl. Biggest PITA was to break
the original barrel from the receiver. Any
prep work like soaking it break free or ?
a week in advance will help. Remember these
are 45 or so years old & any oil etc on the
threads is like fulley cured epoxy by now.
