Century Argentine reciever???
I found an L1A1 pattern with a Century reciever but is otherwise unmarked. It is very clearly not a cast receiver and is not the Hesse pattern from many years ago nor the more current US made recievers with the logo in the box. It is not an Imbel marked, either but does have the double-feed widows peak feed ramps. If I recall correctly, this makes it an Argentine-made reciever, right? If so, what is the reputation on these builds? Is it worth $650?
There is also available a gear wheel imbel made PAC imported reciever STG-58 style FAL built by Century for the same price by this guy. I can't say whether it is metric or inch, other than the lower barrel/gas system being inch pattern (Century did Metric guts on an inch-cut upper but never inch guts/furnature on a metric cut upper, right?). Which would be better to get? What problems might I encounter? Thanks, Ash

My mid-90s thumbhole L1A1 Century was marked "Made in Canada". The receiver is either Imbel or Argy and made for an excellent build on a metric kit. The receiver was also machined for the Inch dust cover and CH. The threads were cut off the barrel, btw. If it is a full length barrel I would be cautious.
Caveat Imptor, but if you are sure it's an imported receiver I would try and buy the receiver only for ~$450 and have the seller peddle the parts elsewhere.

oh i didnt notice you were talking about a full rifle. after using mine for a few 100 rounds id definetely buy that at that price i paid 550 for mine a couple years ago. mine wasnt marked made in canada. i've never had a single hiccup out of mine. mine came with the british pebblegrain buttstock and grip also. though i had to replace the mismatched handguards that were on it. and the threads were cut on it obviously.
