BHO Pin Angle ????

Why is the BHO actuating pin angled on the end where it contacts the follower? Is it for clearance? If so, what is it clearing? I've looked at three different ones now (Imbel, G1 and R1) and they all are angled. I can't imagine that each manufacturer took the time to do this without it serving some purpose. Thanks.

It actually doesn't matter. A bare roll pin will work fine. There may be a reason for tapering the end. I've noticed it too. But, whatever the reason may be, it is not critical to function of the device.

Thanks. Kinda what I got out of reading the prior posts. Regardless, I always get a little leery in changing things without my engineering degree. Has anyone had a problem without the angle?

Hey Gary, you'll never guess why I'm asking? Does this mean the fun's starting?

It's there to keep the pin from hanging on the mag walls instead of the follower when you insert the mag...that wouldn't help.

I dunno that it's really necessary, but if you insert a mag with the dustcover off and look from above with the bolt back or removed...you can clearly see the angle they are cut at.

Thanks. One of my BHOs had the actuating pin running all the way through it, so I was able to tap it out .060 and it works like a charm now. I've got a 3mm reamer and some drill stock and may make a new pin in the future. If I only had a locking shoulder. Come on mail.
