Chop n' Thread Job

I purchased from a collector a DSA FAL rifle with the integral muzzle brake machined into the end of the barrel. Probably a post-Ban rifle.

I may want at some point to have that part cut off and threaded so I can experiment with threaded brakes and flash supressors.

Anyone have an idea about how much that would cost of have done? I'd only be removing like 1 1/2 inches and it's a medium contour barrel.

Thanks!

Both do outstanding work for us. Both are highly regarded here at the files!

+1 on Ed. He did some major work on my rifle (read built upper). He is a perfectionist. Unfortunately I am too, just he's faster so it's taking me awile to "get her done".

Nothing wrong with the rifle as is - but I like the look of muzzle devices, and like to experiement with different types of hiders and brakes. It's fun to accessorize!

I have the same problem, fixation, or whatever you want to call it. Mark at ARZ Response Sys aka Gunplumber said he does this work too and can do it with the receiver on the barrel.

Current Prices For Cut, Crown and Threading as of 9-19-2006.

Cut, crown and thread a barrel attached to the receiver: $55.
Insured return shipping for a barreled upper: $20.

Cut, crown and thread a barrel sent without receiver: $35
Insured return shipping for the barrel only: $14

The above prices cover cutting most SAE/US/Imperial threads on most firearms, installation/timing the flash hider and occasional minor modification of the flash hider being used. For instance, if a 5.56 AR type Vortex FH is used on a FAL it must have the bore opened up for the larger 7.62 projectile. This is one of the "no extra charge" minor modifications.

I can be reached by email at mrbonecrusher@cableone.net or between 10am and 8pm mountain time at 208-234-2057.

I had Gunsmith Tony cutoff (16.5in), thread, and install a flash suppressor (three slot) on my Century L1A1 last January and was very happy with his work.
He's out of Atlanta, GA.
