How far should hammer protrude?

How far up through the upper should the hammer protrude at the cock position? This is in a metric, Izzy pattern rifle. I used a set of the POS Federal Arms H/T/S's in my Izzy HB build and it appears that the carrier is binding on the hammer as it travels down and then up the reciever. It takes considerable force to get it past the hammer. My L1A1 does not take as much to cock (travel aft) and then on the forward travel it barely contacts on its way back into battery. I'm wondering if the geometry on this hammer might be wrong, causing it to stick up too far at cock. It will fire a round, but the carrier seems to be traveling only as far as the hammer before returning, regardless of gas setting.

I can't answer your question directly. But, I'm sure if you install the orginial hammer, you will see the correct height/orientation/placement.

Just use that Century/FAC hammer as a trolling weight.

Put the old one back in? That sounds like work! I was hoping to just fire up the dremel and whack the end off of this one
