FS2000 Recall

Can anyone confirm that FS2000's have been recalled due to a potential malfunction in the fire control system that may lead to full auto fire? I have one of these on order and would hate to think it's going to be held up longer.
TIA

From the FiveseveN forum:

"**IMPORTANT RECALL** *****I just spoke to Bob Ailes at FNH USA. There is a recall on all FS2000 rifles sold to date. The problem is that the FS2000 has the F2000 military firing pin and spring installed and may cause a slam fire with certain commercial ammunition. Feel free to call them yourselves to check this out. They are still working out the details of the recall and how to get the guns back for fixing. He also stated that they will be giving recall customers a $280.00 c-more site for our troubles.*****

having played around with the trigger group on one, I suspect the recall (if there is one) has more to do with FN wanting to change a few parts, and not for "slam fires", if you catch my drift . .. .

I got mine new, post recall. It came with a big red notice, an extra page in the manual, and a captive firing pin spring installed to prevent slam fires.

At the back of the bolt carrier you can see the captive firing pin spring.

Mine came with the red notice also. The recall is on the first 400 released only . I have not shot mine yet but it sure feels like one great rifle! You guys should support FN and pick one up ! FN is not like those pusy companies who are afraid to sell to us civi's ! [ H&K, Colt ETC.] I will buy a Sig when they hit the market also ! Hats off to Sig and FN !

Is it just me or what, but for as bulky as that thing is shouldn't it be in at least .308 caliber??? Maybe I just have to handle one in person.

The gun looks bulky but it is actually very light and well balanced. I can fire offhand while holding it to my shoulder with just one hand I was still able to keep all shots in the upper body of a silhouette target at 50 yards. The gun is equipped with an Aimpoint as the factory fold up rear sight is just slightly larger than a matchstick.

The whitish piece around the bolt looks like a synthetic polymer type deal. I wonder about its service life.

(That's a fine camera that took the closeup)

The rifle handles very well and though it may look "Fat in the ass" you dont notice it when you pull it up to your shoulder. It is a natural pointer. I have had an AUG for many years and have put many thousands of rounds out of her pipe without failure. The Aug has been around since 1977 . Many "Plastic" parts on that rifle. I have noticed alot of the same type polymers of the AUG are also on the FS 2000 . I have not shot the 2000 yet and will give a full detailed report on it. I am going to send off the stock monday to be dyed black. It is a neat weapon and FN has done their homework ! You guys need one , trust me !

If they did there homework why isn't it offered in black already?

Cav-15 is offered in Black, Coyote and Olive Drab - I don't think you'd need to send it out to have Dyed Black if they were truly on top of it.

I thought it felt kindof bulky width wise on the back end - and it took some practice to find the sweet spot for doubletapping. The ejection is just totally cool.

I watched with interest seeing what some of the weapons that turned up in East Timor during the recent violence and Aussie deployment. I noticed at least one of these critters being caressed by a young digger. Like many developing nations many of the worlds arms dealers are trying to sell their products in there, For teh most part M16A2s, SS-1s (Indon FNC) and F88s (Aussie AUGs) were the norm.

Personally, I prefer the green to the black, but I suspect on the P90 anyway the black was an artifically created scarcity.

I hate the way FN bundles their stuff - to get a black one you have to buy three different handguns, tweo different shotguns and three differnt rifles - then you get one free.

Bull$hit. What if I don't wan their dorky handgun? Can I just buy 7 rifles? Nope! I can't even buy three of the same .308 bolt actions - they have to be different ones .. . .

Artful,

Think before posting man..... Do you think F.N. is not able to make the stocks in black? They already do! The black has been only for the military / police market . F.N. at this point wants the green to be for civilian only. They are trying to cover their ass and /or trying to create a small market for the black ones like G.P. said . H&K [H&GAY] did the same thing several years ago with those horrible abortion rifles with the 10 round limit they imported . They were in a slate grey color. " Planet of the Apes" guns is what I have heard them called . UMP & G36 sort of copies that you had to dye , buy the crappy high cap junk conversion for big bucks [Todd at special weapons is a loser and a con man ] , modify the barrels and many other mods if you wanted them to even look close to a military weapon . The FS2000 is fine out of the box as a green O.D. weapon but I would like the black as it makes it look more "Evil".

If you compare "Cav Arms" to F.N. , I know you are a FNG to the small arms world and shall give you a free pass on this one. Go back to ARFCOM!
