FAL Brand New Brazilian Imbel

OK,

I need some help here. I want to build a FAL. I will build a FAL. I also have the chance to buy a FAL Brand New Brazilian Imbel on a CENTURY reciever. It is in another state so I cannot fire it. I have heard that Century recievers are marginal. It seems that it would cost me about $5-600 for the parts (kit, reciever, etc. Not counting the tools).

Should I take a chance? I need to make a descision by Sunday.

Thanks

No reason to rush to buy a parts gun built on a Century receiver unless you are buying it from somebody who will happily give you your money back if it turns out to be a P.O.S.

FAL's are plentiful.
Plenty other FAL's built on more reliable receivers will come along.

FWIW. I would give the Century a pass. I bought one before I knew what it was and am still working on it, even tho it's a NGL Imbel L1A1 built by The Angry Beavers inc.

Do a search on "unibrow receiver" or "Century receiver". You should find some pic showing the differance. Look over the "sticky's" and FAQ's. There's tons of info there.

Like W.E.G. says, "there are a lot of FALS around for sale. Do some research first and save some grief.

Unibrow and widow's peak refer to the feed ramp just forward of the mag well. Unibrow has a single wide ramp. (not good). Widow's peak has dual left and right ramps with a peak in the center.(good)
