Is that $550 for all three rifles to be assembled, headspaced, reparked, and test fired? That's not too bad...about $175 each...I've heard of worse. Tax is probably killing you. Todd does a good job.

! I didn't think he'd be that high ! Hell, I've seen redone FAL's hangin on the walls in his Shop for not much more than that! I tried to help!FXE Edit = After seeing the post above and re-reading your post, $550 for all three including the Brake probably isn't too bad! [ August 15, 2001: Message edited by: FXE ] |

that's pretty cheap for all three I'd charge at least$600 if I was doing the work.

I've got an STG that was assembled by Todd at Rapid Fire that I got from the marketplace board. It was built with an excellent matching numbers STG kit and an Imbel. Everything looks great, and the finish is very nice. The only gripe I have is that the DSA lightweight brake on the front is ever so slightly crooked. It's hard to tell with the naked eye, but if you put a metal rod through the holes and hold it level, you can tell the rod is tilting one way.
Everyone is right. $550 is a very good deal for all 3, but probably at least $250 to $300 too much for just one. |

I charge $250 for assemble and park, including all the usual extras and return ship. With 20-30 guns in at any given time, it seems to be fair market value for my work and if your smith does work of equal quality with the renumbering, and lifetime warratny, then it sounds more than fair to me. I do the fifth free if sent at same time.

After building my first kit, and really trying to do it right (sliver solder brake, sand blast and molyresin metal,HS and time, blast buttstock, grip and refinish handguards) I'd have to think that at less than $200 a rifle you'd be getting a very fair deal. This stuff takes time! The guys here doing this for a living are undoubtably far faster and more efficient than me, but I can't believe many are buying tropical islands at this rate! More power to em.

No. the 20% on 5 is a labor volume discount. For buying guns, I could probably go 10% on 3 or more, at the same time, to the same address.

Let me see if I have this right. You're saying that if I send you five rifles to build at once you will give me a 20% discount on the labor? So for the sake of discussion if you charge $200.00 for a rifle build and repark then 5 rifles would be $1000.00, but since I get a 20% volume discount it will be $800.00 which equates to getting one for free, right? If so it kinda makes a guy wish he had five rifles he needed done, four of mine and one of a buddies
