ERRRR! stuck gas setting

My gas setting needs adjustment but it seems to be frozen at it current position. What tool could I use to break it loose? I know there is a specific tool to adjust the setting but it doesn't look like it would be solid enough to pry loose a stuck setting. This thing seems REALLY stuck, wouldn't budge at all. Any ideas? I would really love to get this thing running.

Make sure your handguard are not binding the gas nut. A Swiss Army knife works and if need be a brass punch.

What he said. Check that first.

If it is still stuck it might be rusted in place as I had happen once. Use penetrating oil and a strap wrench, or an old leather sling and a pair of plyers to loosen it up.

Careful we start agreeing and the end of the world could be upon us.

Any recomendations as to a good penetrating oil? This sucker is not budging. Its looking like the oil/brass punch is going be my only hope. The rifle is short stroking and jamming the spent round back into the chamber causing me to do the FAL POGO on the charging handle. Ive tried to move the setting both right and left just to see if I can get it to move at all with no luck. How long should I leave the penetrating oil on before I start smacking at it? THanks for all the help so far and any more that might come.

KROIL worked for me on stuck gas tube nut and seems to be a favorite here.

Brownell's has it so does Midway.

Or www.kanolabs.com

Got to learn how to post links someday.

I used a lightweight gun oil. You could also use WD40, or RemOil. I would say give it at least an hour, but overnight wouldn't hurt either.

I would suggest a strap wrench first. If you go to wacking on it with a punch (even at a tangent) you could end up snapping it. They are often not the most beefy of parts.

I personally used an old piece of leather and adjustable plyers. It worked just fine.
