I have one and like it. It has a nice feel to it and it's a buck. I gave one to my brother in law and he uses it for hunting. Guts deer with it and has no problems with it.

Agreed.
For the price they are awfully hard to beat.

There are "better" knives made, but they are a lot more expensive.
My youngest son and I got one each 6 years ago after some serious study of design and quality of what was on the market and have never regreted it.
Buck makes consistantly fine products.

Great knife. I have had one for about ten years. Thick heavy duty blade and holds an edge alright. Just about the right length too. This was Bucks entry in the Navy SEAL knife competition.

I forgot to add that I have used a Buck 119 for years ever since I have been deer hunting. I like them. Great knife for the money.

Yeah, I have a Buck 118 and a Buck 112 I've had and used hard for about 20 years or so. Can't complain about them. They sure do hold an edge. If I had anything to say about them, it would be that the steel is so damned hard it is really difficult to put a factory edge on them. Buck will do it for you, slight inconvenience, but what a sharpening job they do. Once it is sharp, it pretty much stays sharp. At least, that's my experience, ymmv.
After seeing a picture of the Nighthawk above, I'm really tempted to get one of those too.

ive had a few 119s over the years, great knives.

i ended up buying the nighthawk, great feel, great design.

and when you say sharp your not kidding, it went an inch into my floor when it fell off my desk.

Where can I get the best price for the Nighthawk?

I see that the msrp on the Buck Knives site is $72 but I know they can be bought for less than that.

I bought a nighthawk over 15 years ago and found it to be OK for skinning deer but found that when I tried to cut up hindquarters or backstraps into steak that the angle of the blade was too steep and the meat would hang up on the sides of the blade.
The blade is indeed thick and tough but imho it is not made for a non combat survival type situation.
Since that discovery, I have made several knives and found that the one that performs best in the skinning and processing role is a broad bladed bowie that has a thinner blade than the nighthawk's blade at the edge. One that is my favorite is a solingen steel blade called the Natchez Bowie sold by Jantz Supply.

That looks like it. It is hard to tell what it looks like from the picture, but I see that they are made by Soligen in Germany, which is a very good knife mfgr.
