Received my L1A1 from ARS via FedEx today. Absolutley fantastic. Well worth the wait. From the beginning this was a year long project for me. DSA inch Receiver, DSA Gas Piston, Falcon Arms Inch Grip, FSE H,T,S and Inch Charging Handle. I also purchased a new lower the original look like it had been thru a half dozen FTR's. Everyone was great to deal with especially Mark. Great communication from Mark when the SLR-5000 parts were not quite up to snuff. I was worried about the handguards and buttstock being a bit chewed up but ARS refinished them as well. The parts kit was a BSA 1959 L1A1 kit from SLR-5000

Here she is:

Very nice..congratulations. I'm having ARS put together an L1A1 clone as well. If it looks half as good as yours I'll be a happy camper.

Furniture

I am not sure what he did to the furniture. It may have been a treatment of his Metacol. Whatever it was its a nice flat black that makes them look brand new.

It does look very nice.

Congratulations...

The only thing that it needs now is some brass kisses...

Nothing fancy. Sandblasting/beadblast mitigates the small scratches and makes for an even sheen. DO NOT blast too close or in one spot too long. Keep the tip moving or you can get a friction burn on the plastic. parkerize metal parts, mask and MET III Enamel with a lower (225-250F) temp cure . handguards will warp slightly at higher temps sometimes. Then a plastic treatment like armor all

Chup,

Rifle looks awesome some questions though. What nationality is the lower and where did you get it. Also where did you find that awesome looking blick carry handle, I have 3 but they are all chewed up. If Mr. Graham knows the answers thats cool two.

Thanks for the info

Lower

Thorack,
I got the lower from Gunthings.com for $49.00. It is a Canadian lower. The original lower had stamps over restamps.

With the carry handle I got lucky thru the Marketplace here on the FalFiles.
