After my introduction to Hesse's products via a one of their metric recievers I would never buy anything they made. In 25 years of mechanical rebuilding and home machine shop experience that Hesse was the worst example of precision workmanship I have ever seen. It's sad when some third world peasant who has only run a lathe or mill for a week can produce a better product than an American company.
Hesse's customer service is non existent.

hopefully they will be better than their 80% metric parts, their non-walnut walnut pistol grips, but doubt it

Fully half of everything I have gotten from Hesse (including inch internals) was crap and required rework. About 25% I was never able to get to work and either sent back for replacement or just ate because I was ashamed about ordering the s++t to start with. You roll the dice with Hesse.

Dear eman,

We have put about a dozen or so sets of Hesse
L1A1 / Inch Patt fire control groups in with no problems. 2 sets are in my own L1A1's.

Dan @ VOW is setting up to make his too. Other people have talked of making them, but no one else has come through.

Would I use Hesse fire control groups ? And there are many FAL's I've built for people here on the board that have been happy with them and the Metric set.

No hammer breakage issues like FSE had.

Order Robrt's, or wait for Dan @ VOW.

Everything Dan has come out with and sold has been first rate.

Sincerely, George L. Gouger

I bought a Hess U.S. fire control group from a guy on the boards for an AK47. I got lucky dropped right in no problems only cost me $20
I have seen the god awfulest Hess made FALs all 3 were the same model and all the barrels were different lengths, nasty welded on brakes and wood screws for stock screws.

I respect George and believe him when he says he gets usable stuff from Hesse. I also know what I have gotten. I have ordered the following from Hesse with the posted results:

Two Gas pistons, one O.K., one unpolished (rough) and oversize in diameter. It would only fit in one L1A1 out of eight FALs I tried it in.

Three sets of Inch internals, one hammer cast with a left leaning bend to where it would not fall due to hitting the upper when assembled, went back for replacement. Received a servicable replacement.

Two US wood metric grips, one O.K., one split vertically on both sides.

One US synthetic buttstock (same s**t as Century?). Complete and total trash. A two piece affair that is too short to even tighten up when installed.

My dealings on the phone with Hesse have been abrupt but satisfactory with both returns and severely shorted orders. Shipping was very fast.

To sum: I am a big boy spending my own money. I had a pretty good idea about what I was dealing with and chose to take the risk. Just passing this along so others can make an informed decision.
