Feeding problems FN

Hi,

I have a DS Arms SA58 rifle. I took it out and ran about 40 rounds through it with no problems. Right after this, I put a DS Arms scope mount on the rifle with a trilux scope. The mount is the one with 2 sets of locking plates on each side. Ever since then, the gun will not feed. The bolt carries forward, and starts to strip the round, but then jams. The carrier seems to hang up somewhere during the process. I then took out the bolt carrier and looked for any scratches/wear marks. I could not find any. I then took the scope cover off and tried cycling it without the cover and it STILL jams. I sent a couple of emails to DS Arms, but apparently, no one there reads them.

Other than the fact that the gun jams every round, the gun is in like new condition.

You cranked the screws too tight, and deformed the bolt carrier rails. Take it apart, and just use the carrier. Slide it until it stops, mark it with something. Then look and see how bad it is. You maybe able to lapp it out with some compound or file it out. YMMV.

I have the dust cover off and have been running it without and the gun feeds about 1/2 the time. I took the carrier out after cycling it about 100 times and cannot find a spot on the rails where it seems to be rubbing. I don't see anything on the carrier, either. There doesn's seem to be any deforming of the side rails at all, but I don't have anything to measure this with.

The carrier does seem to hang a bit, but not too bad.

This is one of those do it one at a time things. seperate the lower. Take bolt out of carrier. Does carrier work smoothly by itself? Put bolt in - re test. put mag in upper with rounds - can you feed by hand? Put lower on, check for drag on hammer. Does it have a problem with all mags? Are mag feed lips up tight to underside of receiver? ETC...welcome to the world of FAL's.

Where do you live - a member near you might could help.
