Barrel/Compensator Question?
Hello everyone. On 12/21 I picked up my G1 FAL that a guy in Troy, Ohio had built for me. He put a compensator on it since it was part of the package. It looked as if it was silver soldered on. The guy did an excellent job on the assembly and parkerizing. I fired it about 60-80 times over the weekend. While cleaning it, I noticed that the threaded compensator had come loose. I have completely removed it. Should I have it reattached or just have the threaded part of the barrel turned and a crown put on it? I want as much accuracy as possible and heard that compensators can throw the accuracy off. Sorry for the long post. I just wanted opinions before I contact him tomorrow.
Thanks Paul

Thanks Paul As far as accuracy , fire it noe & compare it to the accuracy you got while it was on . To attache it , I think the muzzle attachment must be welded , silver sordered or blind pinned . I beleave Brownells sells a little jar of silver soeder & flux . Clean all surfaces , apply this product , to both surfaces , & heat with a mapp gas tourch . Wyr |

If the compensator(Muzzle Brake) was putt on correctly and is on the barrel stright it should not affect your accuracy one way or the other, but the rifle will be louder with the compensator/brake on it,I have a STG with a slick barrel NO brake and a target crown and I personal like it that way no where near the noise level.HTH

I have a G1 that I shoot w/o the fake hider. I love it. Also have a DSA carbine that is loud, not to me, and I love it too. It is up to you. If you like the looks of a naked brl, then go for it. If you like the looks a thingy on the end go for it.
