front sight sucks!!!
ok guys, heres the thing:
i bought a imbel kit, i had to change the front sight block cause the old one was messed up..it was a closed ear setup. i called gunparts guy. he sent me a open eared front sight/gas block..now, the front sight post is a bitch to adjust...its not like my stg58 front sight which uses that blue thing with the prongs and screw up or down with audible clicks..( i like that ) no, this one has like a washer that screw down and also a front sight post that screws down..i guess you have to loosen the washer thingy and then make your sight adjustment and then tighten the washer thingy back up? and i can't find a tool for this thing anywhere..i think i was told it is a indian set up and i would need a israeli tool. i ordered one but the square thing that fits over the front sight is way to big..i need help! |

If it is an Izzy or Argie front site, then you can use a socket to adjust it. Note, that open eared front sites are 3mm highter then standard metric and you will need to change the rear site to either an inch or a Izzy tombstone.

Sound like you have a Ishapore (Indian) gas block!!
A sight post that looks similiar to a Israeli, but it has a threaded jamb ring/nut that tightens down once the post is screwed to the correct level. This is like the Uzi system. Why the heck did you get a Ishapore block? Did Gunparts guy recomend this? Did you buy what was cheapest? Not picking on you. Just wanted to know the reason for the purchase. You need a gas block like what was on the barrel. Preferably from the same mfg'r as well as even the same model of blocks can fit slightly tighter or looser. Gunthings has used metric closed ear gasblocks. Larry

If it does turn out that it's an Argie or Izzy gas block & sight post ( raised up square just below the post) a 1/4" drive extension fits nicely over the square. Then you can turn the extension with pliers, etc. to raise or lower it. There is no lock plate under the sight post, just a thin plate with little detents sticking up on either side to keep it from moving on it's own. If you can take a picture and email it to me I'll tell you what you have and if it will work.
