Same stock for carbine and rifle?

In general, are FAL stock sets interchangeable between rifles and carbines? Or are the forends different sizes?

Specifically, I'm thinking of putting a DSA X-Series on a carbine, and wondering if it'll fit. I do know they only fit metric receivers (at least the one on Brownells site).

Thanks in advance,

There the same. Basic carbine has a shorter barrel. some of us have used the short gas system (dsa) also.
