.223 FAL - last shot bolt hold open?

Do you folks with .223 FAL's have last-shot bolt-hold-open function on your rifles?

I'd be interested to know whether there is any variation between the SAR-4800 and the Meeper conversion in this regard.

While I don't have it in front of me, I beleive it is the standard BHO.

There are only about a 1000 .223 FAL's in the US. Guess which one is rarest.

Well, Mr Creator, when you have almost 60 FAL's & kits, you kinda get tired of .308 all the time & long for something a little different, .223 provides a little diversion from time to time..... And back at you!

Anywhere from $1100 to $1600 for a genuine SAR 4800. As for the kits? Sorry, all carefully stored ready for the mother of all build parties & the completed rifles most definitely ain't for sale either.

When I get something, it never gets sold or traded, having had guns confiscated by da govt. of the UK, I'm of the firm opinion you can never have too many guns of ANY type.....

The Meeper variation in 223 has a modification on the BHO to make it work, on my FAL. It worked quite well after a break-in period for the rifle. HTH, Gary.

Gman, you have my respect as well. I think it's great that you move your life here to the free zone and jump in with both feet. Maybe we can get together sometime and have that MOAB Party. Sounds like we could turn out 100+ between the two of us.

Gary, I have Meeper conversions with both AR15 mags and Bulgarain .223 AK mags. The AR version has a BHO; the AK mag version does not,.....not even manual. That needs to be fixed. I really like the AK version, but handling is complicated and imperfect.

Is yours the orignal style or the newer with the quick change? I know when i had the 7.62X25 built we talked about doing a .223 also. I was going to go with the AK style mag and as I remember there was no BHO option on that one.

The Gman is correct. after a few you want something different. I should be done with the .243 around X-Mas. I take it creator0203 you have never seen a 5.7 lb fal? Its alot of fun and very accurate out to 200 yards.

Mine is single caliber only, built on a Williams receiver and a light weight DSA lower.

I'll have to check out my rifle when I get back, it sounds like a twin to yours, euripedes.

I still haven't found the digicam cable to post a photo of the magwell adaptor.
