WTK: Selling Price for a Polish Tokarov TT-33
I am thinking about selling a Polish Tokarov TT-33. What is the going rate for these pistols? I have seen exactly one of these pistols in the past few months, and it was a Vietnam bring back priced at $800.
It is a matching 1954 Polish TT-33 import. A gunsmith removed the safety and refinished it. Any ideas? |

I was with you untill you said "refinsihed it". I hate to inform you, but to most collector's, it's now ruined and useless. The safety was of little consequence, as it is a pretty much universally despised items, but the refinsihng hurts it a lot. How was it refinished? what condition is it in? What toys come with it?
P.S. If you wanted one without a SAfety, give a good look around for a nice Russian example, you'll be much happier!

Refinishing a collector piece is NOT a good idea, in regards to it's collectors value- as a shooter, it's probably worth around $200, if it's one of the recent (last 3 or 4 years) import. I have seen original (non refinished) recent import Poilish tt-33's go for as high as $325 and as low as $200, depending entirely on condition- the low end rating about 85%, high end unissued cond.

I received it in trade and the refinishing and removal of the safety was done prior to me coming into it.
I would rate it in excellent condition. The bore and all the metal is immaculate. I am not sure what it was refinished in, but it is not park. Thanks for the information. |

in my veiw, the polish TT-33 lost it's "collector status" as soon as they drilled the hole in the frame, gouged out the metal for the safety..........a true "collectors piece" is one that the pistol wasn't butchered with a added safety.........AIM or SOG was selling them for 150-180 bucks, I believe......200 would be about the right price, since they are not available in bulk from importers

Yes, they are "Butchered"; but they are also somewhat rare now, and desirable to collectors. Just try and buy one that is in exc. cond. right now, or in the near future off of Gunbroker or Auction Arms for less than $300. It wont happen.
