NEED HELP!!! L1A1 INCH EXPERTS....

HELLO! I have a Enterprise arms L1a1 that I bought close to 15 yrs ago. Right side of receiver has Irwindale,Ca stamped on it along with "ABN I" and has serial number under ej. port. The "ABN I" stamp looks alot different in depth and is smaller than other stampings. Serial number is 0048xx. Does the ABN I mean Orig. Aussie Lithgow manif? I saw a post on the files that suggested something of this nature about a year ago. I also have a enterprise L1a1 receiver that I bought about 5 yrs ago. They look nothing alike! I wish to sell The ABN I rifle, Whats it worth? Thanks, Jerod

i have a Entreprise L1A1 just like yours. i am not 100% sure but i do believe that the "ABNI"refers to the I.D.of the subcontrator that actually made or did the finish machining on the receiver. it does not have anything to do with being made in australia. those early entreprise receivers are made from bar stock and tend to be of high quality unlike some later entreprise cast receivers. the value of the rifle is dependent on alot of things perhaps a picture and a complete discription would help determine the value of it.

Thanks for the reply,
The rifle is set up a a Brit. L1A1. Lower is "UE 61" folding charging handle has Brit. NSN numbers all over it. The rifle has the correct type of "stoving" black paint on it over Park. and is in about 98%. Rifle is a dream to shoot and is very accurate. It has close to new Brit. buttstock,p.grip and handguards on it. I need money for another project and would like to sell this. If anyone wants a picture I will try to get some. Send me a email and I will try to get them back to you.

My early Entreprise L1A1 is about 1500 older than yours and has the ABN1mark as well. My newest Entreprise L1A1 receiver is something less than 3 months old, is numbered EAI ))53XX,and also has the ABN 1 stamp under the ejection port. There are very few differences between these receivers to the eye. The machining on the lightening cut on the mag well is a little rougher on the new one, there a a couple milling marks inside the receiver on the water table that the old one doesn't have, that's about it.
The newest one was a remarkably easy build. The old one is a classic Ozzie L1A1 with full wood dress. Nice rifles the pair of them.
Does Entreprise number their Inch receivers in a different series than their metric ones? 2000 receivers over 15 years doesn't sound like much.

Doubletap,
The newer receiver I have does not have the "ABN" on it anywhere. The new one looks to be cast. Look in front of your magwell at the different lines. Enterprise serial numbers can be ordered custom so I think that they have put out more than 2 thousand receivers. The "ABN I" on my older model is stamped very small and is above the locking shoulder.
Thanks, Jerod

That's interesting Jerrod. I just built up the newest one 3 weeks ago, ordered it out in mid September and they were saying that they had just finished a batch as I called. It is definitely stamped just over the locking shoulder like my old one,( I think I inadvertently mentioned it was under the ejection port instead of to the "southwest" of it earlier) the "1" is stamped deeper and at a slight angle to the "ABN" so they must stamp the "1" seperately.
In front of the mag well there is a slightly different milling pattern than on the oldest one. Has the slightest hint it was cast before being milled to contour (in fact the new ones ARE cast according to an earlier thread on the new Inch receivers). To this point nothing but good things to say about the new receiver, hope it keeps that way!
