S&W Model 48 problem ?
Any one out there know if there is suppose to be any clearance where the cylinder rotates on the shaft, should the cylinder slide back and forth on this shaft more than a few thousands, the reason I ask is when you try to unlock the cylinder to swing it out it sticks pretty hard but if I push the cylinder back towards the trigger, it seems to help, someone told me that the nature of the gun,I find that hard to believe, I thought I could fix it but so far I can't, any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

That fore and aft movement of the cylinder, when closed, is called endshake. It IS something to pay attention to as it can affect the gap between the forcing cone and the cylinder, which should be minimum.
