Romanian AK furniture repair

I went to Home Depot and got some Minwax Polyshades(stain & polyurethane)Bombay Mahogany Gloss #480.This is great for chips or complete refinish.One coat or Two for super dark.

I dunno, I might think somebody was messin' with me selling me a can of sticky dark stain that has "Bombay" in the name.

You needa wear a ventilator when working with that stuff?

Will it work to make the one I have look like new? The guy running the torch lit my buttstock on fire and burned it about 1/2 way through just behind the rear trunion.

The 1st stock I used was a (orange G ) kit from Centerfire with a chip were the tang is,looks great. The 2nd stock is a IO older kit they have sold for a couple of years.This one has a deep scrape
1/4 '' wide X 2 .000 long.This needed 2 coats because of darker finish.Both stocks are laminated.I haven't tryed a complete redo.But this is going to be real close to Plum?? furniture.
