My First FAL - Picked It Up Today ! !

I'm still new to FALs, but I learned enough to know that I certainly needed one. I didn't trust a lot of the ones I saw for sale, so I was fortunate enough to have one built for me by a well known gunsmith that specializes in FALs.

My first FAL is an Austrian StG-58 with the sweet Steyr hammer forged barrel, a gear Imbel receiver in perfect shape, and good compliance parts. Can't beat it with a stick...

I wanted that "well used" finish so I didn't have it re-parked.

Can't wait to take it to the range ! ! ! !

very nice looking rifle

of the "Woodless" Rifles the StG is definently the best looking, and you have a very fine looking example

Yes, congratulations on a beautiful rifle.

Remember, you have to keep them warm...

i'm jealous! I still have one of the like-new kits Harlan had 18 months ago and my new Imbel has been sitting at my home for the past 2 months 300 miles away.

Beautiful rifle, my friend. Welcome to the madness, errr, fan club. lol.

Looks nice Rollo. I just got my first FAL as well, it's a DSA STG58. I got a couple cases of South African .308 from aimsurplus, and it's a real nice shooter.

Nice rifle.
My first FAL was also an STG with a Steyr barrel and GL receiver and it is a keeper.

However, you need to understand that a rifle is a lot like a girlfriend in that you need to have at least two at the same time to really enjoy yourself.
Buy/build another FAL as soon as possible and you will be more than twice as satisfied.

Rollo,
Have you gotten out to the range with it yet? Hope you're as happy with yours as I am with mine. Plus it's fairly economical to shoot with the price of surplus .308.

Nice rifle. Looks just like mine! I took mine to a CMP fun shoot today just for "fun" and ran about 125 rnds through it. Shoot good. The sights could use some adjusting, and I sure do need some practice, ha ha.

Rollo, if you are looking for some good surplus ammo, check out SOG (Southern Ohio Guns, I think) They are an advertiser on the FALfiles. I just bought a case of Aussi 89 and it is pretty accurate (if I could shoot it well enough) and reasonably priced at about .17 per round. Also, a site named "polygunbags" has some Lake City and some Aussi. I bought some LC because it can be reloaded. The Aussi 89 is Berdan primed and can't be reloaded.

Cool! Thanks for the ammo tip !

I bought three cases of Argen from Sportsmans Guide, but I'm not sure I got the best deal after the coupon and membership and shipping blah blah..
