MOVING PISTOL GRIP LOCATION ON ROBINSON M96

Like the pistol grip on the AR-15, I find the pistol grip on the M96 to small and to close to the trigger. There are accessories for the AR-15 to move the pistol grip back 1/2 to 3/4 inch, but nothing is commercially available for the M96. Has anyone here come up with a solution to move the pistol grip back for a better perch of the trigger finger?

Here is a picture of the pistol grip in the factory position.

I would like to move the pistol grip back about 3/4 inch to this position.

I have a few ideas on how to accomplish moving the pistol grip, but I don't have the time or expertise to do it. Another alternative would be to have a custom grip made that extends the back of the grip by 3/4 inch. I talked with a stock manufacturer in San Jose yesterday who bought his M96 when I did in 1999. He said he has the same problem as I do and may attempt to manufacturer an extended wood pistol grip later this year.

On my AR-15's I have installed the Speedlock AR-15 Slip Grip Extender with the Sierra Precision Rifles SPR Pistol Grip. See picture below. Unfortunately there are not similar items available for the M96.
