Taurus revolvers???
I dont own any revolvers and untill about 3 weeks ago had never even shot one (I'm forty)
I'm thinking about buying one but dont consider myself a "wheel-gun snob". My wife has a Taurus PT-99 in stainless. It's been a great pistol. I'm looking at their large frame 357's, 7 or 8 shots IIRC, ported barrel, modestly priced. We all know that Brazil makes other things we like, what about their pistols?Your opinions and/or any input would be appreciated. kroberts

I've shot a few Taurus wheelguns and had a Rossi years ago. They are fine. They are no S&W, and definately no Colt, but they are fine. The quality matches the price.

I've always found the quality far exceeds the price. I bought a .357 4" Tracker and fitted a set of Wolffe springs (hammer and trigger). It is as smooth and accurate as my friend's custom Smith. I have equaled by best service pistol score with this revolver and trust it completely to place bullets on small targets out past 50yds.
I would highly recommend the Tracker at any price. |

I have one of their small frame 4 inch .22's.
A bit rough around the edges so to speak but for the money I am pleased.

I've owned several of their small frame model 85(?) 38s and have been very happy with them also. I liked them better than the Rossi models I too have found them to be a bargain. I haven't tried their larger frame revolvers. If you get one, let us know what you think.

To answer Kroberts: I own a model 605 (5 shot .357mag). It is a great little gun, and would probably stay great if all I shot was .38spec. It shoots loose after a few hundred rounds of full house .357mag. They keep fixing it, I keep shooting it!! |

Had two older made in Brazil revolvers, a 96 .22lr and a 66 .357 magnum.
The used M96 was a POS, it had been sent back to the factory before I bought it. After I sent it back twice more to get it fixed, issue still wasn't fixed. Ended up trading it for a Smith & Wesson. Liked the M66, but the cylinder rod would loosen when shooting the revolver. Otherwise the fit and finish on the pistol was good. |

Hi,
I currently have 3 taurus revolvers. Good stuff!! my first Taurus a 669cp in SS ive have for atleast 10 years, its never had a problem and has easily fired 5000+ rounds of mostly .357. this is one of the guns i'll never sell. Its very accurate and the factory comp makes shooting full power 357's similar to shooting 38spls. My second is aboves little brother, a md85 38spl with 3" barrel and factroy comp in SS. again a top notch pistol. shoots well and is very accurate. My third is another md85 this time with bobbed hammer and 2 1/4 barrel. could not be happier with all 3. Ive owned 3 ruger revolvers....... they are gone.... I've owned 2 dan wesson revolvers.......they are gone..... I've owned 1 rossi revolver........ it went bye bye..... I will NEVER own a smith/wesson... Regards, Son |

I have a taurus tracker in .41 (stainless version) and i love it. it has never had a single problem and is accurate as hell. the grip is amazing, like shooting a .38 between that and hte porting.
excellent gun. i also have a CIA hammerless in .357. great great carry gun. absolutely no complaints with the taurus guns.

I have had great luck with non-magnum revolvers, not great luck with the magnum revolvers, and really bad luck with their autos.

I haven't had mine too long, but it's already one of my favorites! Pretty much no recoil, even with full magnum loads. This is definitely one I won't be getting rid of. |

I own one of their best, in my opinion, but believe it is no longer available in this caliber: a Titanium .44 special snub nose. Shoots and carries very well. In fact, it was my concealed-carry piece for a good while, ultimately being replaced by Smith's scandium 12 oz. .357. For the money (and even without considering its reasonable cost), I have been very satisfied with the product. And this from a man who owns, and has owned, a lot of revolvers and semi's from Colt, Smith, and Ruger.
