AK build party 6-4-05 Saturday!!Pics added
There is going to be a build party here in Lindale Tx the 4th of June. There will be BBQ also! Lindale is close to Tyler, party is not far from I 20. I am not hosting the party but will be there with many parts and advice. We still need someone with a flat bending jig to come. Email me or PM for details. This is a Saturday build party.

Where is a good place to get a flat?
I got a AMG65 kit a while ago, I'd like to turn it into a pistol, but have not yet gotten a flat or a jig. If I can get the parts, I'd like to come.

skuld I'll have flats there. PM me for a list of parts available there. Flats are 19.95 +tax. I've got most compliance stuff and a couple of recievers for sale also. My receivers would need to be yellow sheeted. Flats are your own business.

I'll be bringing: Tea Ice Ice chests Candied Jalepenos Jalepeno Pickles Camera And anything else that is needed plus a very eager urge to finally build me an AK. Thanks for all you help and imput Jerry. PM coming your way in a few minutes. |

Sent a Pm. Would be interested in making a build party. This would be a new area for me.............haven't even got a kit yet!! Any advice? Bear in mind, I would want a full size 47 or 74.........the smaller ones (krink) don't hold my interest much.
Thanks in advance! |

Under any other circumstances, I would be there. It's been a while since my last good Texas build party (191A4), and mye first build party (FAL at Sledgehammers). Both were very productive, and a blast.

I don't need or really want to build anything right now (other than my post sample Krink), but how about someone just coming up for a visit? Might could even talk the big fellers into coming with me.
Y'all gonna be doing any shootin'? Should I bring something? 'Bout time some of us got together again for old times sake anyway. ![]() Bump this back up...

Hey Sig! I caught 'tude referring to a possible future Fal build party / ressurrection of the TX Reprobate group in another thread. I am not much into AK's and this June date is taken for us. Later on, if there's a Fal build party, I would be good to go for a group ride up there. Prolly get a coupla more Houston area fellas to ride along, wouldn' wanna mention no names, but the initials, Glucker and STXDR comes to mind !
![]() Dyno, when ya get over yer seasick-okra pukin-blues, maybeso you'll start airline shoppin. Get a ticket to Bush International, and just hop out when ya get over my house. Hell, they're only a coupla thou' up when they come over the Casa ! heh heh I guess eatin' Ned goes with building AK's. Fal-builds just gotsta be Beef, just GOTSTA be!

Tex you are welcome anytime! As are you James! We probably are going to just need side dishes. I was going to have a FAL there to show the AK crowd ease of assembly, but alas, I can not find a sutible hts set here. I thought I had plenty. But just getting all the AK stuff together is a big job.
I'd kind of like to get a tentative head count though, so we know how much pork to roast. |

owlcreek if I knew of beef for the same price, our mouths would be wrapped all around it. Seriously I'm an ex Iowa farmboy. I've really had good luck roasting the piggies. Usually don't have any left. We always used to have whole hog roasts for our HD rally's at home (Iowa). Great stuff! I had some goats but just sold them all, too bad the little ones are great roasted. Cabrito!

Jes a little ribbin, 4x4, as ya know.
I lived in NC for 21 years. Cooked a many a whole pig. Good doin's. I loved the pig pickins when the pork was not pulled off en masse, and chopped all together for serving. I would stand back and let all the experts grab ham, ribs, tenderloin. When they had gotten all the best to thier opinions,,,I would amble over and pull out the strips of lean that is my fave. That part of lean that is usually seen by consumers as bacon. Oh my! THAT is good good good!!!!! I'm hungry

owlcreek we had some feral emu's here! I have tried to secure some for the BBQ, but alas no luck. When the market crashed on ratites here it was nothing to see emu's and rhea's running free. They were costing the owners too much to feed. I haven't seen any lately though. Talk about the big smoked drumstick!
Last beef I BBQ'd we did in a hole in the ground. It was wonderful! It was for my grandparents 60th anniversery. They've been gone now for a couple of years. |

4x4, if no attendees have a flat-bending jig, you guys are welcome to borrow mine for the cost of postage to and from Austin or for free if someone is driving from Austin and can pick it up. Be forewarned that my jig is designed for use with a BFH, like the one built by justashooter. It has no external frame through which to push the flat/jig to make the lower bends, though it would be easy enough for someone to weld or bolt together a suitable frame. Pics here:

There will be plenty of kits and recievers. Plenty of tools to build either rivet, I got the correct eastern european rivet sets as well as taps, drills and grade 8 screws for screw builds. Also plenty of compliance parts. Don't let not having everything stop you! There are Pittsburgh hot links and other sausage as well as the guest of honor to be grilled. Anyone want the job of grilling? Its open, pays poor, but good fellowship and knowledge to be picked up. Hope to see some East Tex FALers!

I'll swap some grilling time for an extra pair of hands and gray matter getting my kit to fruition.
Really, I don't mind grilling at all. If ya need me, I'll be more than happy to stir the coals and turn the links. Randy, Tex, James, it will be great seeing you guys there. It's been a good while since I've seen all of you together. |

AK build party 6-5-05
OWLCREEK:
I sure do appreceiate the invite. Some spirits, a couple stogies and new friends, what more could a guy ask for. Man I wish I could do it. Sounds like a "GREAT" time. Ya know I could get this Kit I have to you in time for the build if'n ya want it fer your Son? Man I am hell on the grill, would be glad to lend a hand and a knife if I could get there. Maybe I can swing it next time with a little more notice. O/Creek, never did get sick out there and we caught a mess-o fish. Cooked some up on the boat fer dinner with a mess of Okra on the side. I ate the fish and used the Okra for chum.... Have fun y'all, I will be there in spirit fer sure.

The build party is on Saturday starting at the early hour of 9am! If you can make it to Lindale Tx one just has to go to the middle of town on Hwy 69. Turn west on hwy 16 party is one mile west on the south side of the road. It is at Eddie Luce's new home in the garage. Bring drinks, eating utensils, chairs and an extra table or two would be nice.
I have extra kits , recievers and compliance parts. That is if the brown truck shows up with the recievers as promised! Hog is now enjoying the last moments of his life. Call me @ 902-882-5334 if any questions, be patient there have been alot of calls.Any side dishes for Sundays meal are appreciated! Last edited by Cummins_4x4; June 02, 2005 at 11:22. |

Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=hwy+16...0.112796&hl=en
You turn onto Hwy 16 west about where the B is on the map. Go approx 1.5 miles and watch on your left which is the south. Eddie's subdivision is called Meadowcrest. Not too many houses, his address is 16710 Meadowcrest. If you hit the + on the map you can get a bigger view. Interstate 20 is just to the south of this map. I think 4 miles from the intersection of I20 and Hwy 69. Saturday, my mistake! Last edited by Cummins_4x4; June 02, 2005 at 11:24. |

Thunder, Skuld, come on over to Jerry's on Sunday if Saturday is booked. I plan on being there either finishing up my first kit or maybe starting a second. It's just a few short miles from the build party location.

Faltitude gothis rifle done as well as some of the others. The guest of honor got locked in a freezer and key broken off in the lock! I think the boys were burning the candle at both ends for too long. many punches, drill bits, and grinding wheels gave their all in this endeavor! Several minor cuts with one requiring the first aid kit were self inflicted during this strange ritual. Even in my capacity of overseer, I incurred a 1 inch slice! I forgot mycamera the first day.
Moreto come later.

Lawdy, Lawdy am i beat. Just got home myself. Can you believe some of them boys stayed up 'till 4 AM and then hit it again at 8 this morning?
This was my first AK build of which I had never even watched one being built before. Mine may not be pretty but it was the first functioning rifle finished. I'll shoot for asthetics on the next build. The Global receivers and Romanian kits as well as all complaince parts from Cummins 4x4 were top notch. Thanks bro! Many, many bits were broken, several punches ruined, a few choice words exchanged between builder and com block hardened steel yet through the trials, it was a great experience. Our host Eddie, Master Armorer Cummins 4x4, and Charlie made sure all builders needs and questions were attended to. Couldn't have done it without you guys. Was also glad to meet many others from different boards as well as locals and friends of friends. Heck, we even had a couple fly out from TN just for the build. Good to have met you and your wife Melbo if you read this. Also a big thanks to Sledgehammer for the help in getting me pointed in the right direction (yes, we did get the broken drill bit out of the rear trunion ) as well as Files members Tex, James, and Skuld for showing up. Skuld, sorry that some of the equipment had left before you showed up as your kit sure looked like a nice one.Again, thank you Jerry for all the help. Stay tuned for pics as I'm loading them now. |

Eddie, Charlie, and Jerry, thanks for doing this.
My kit didn't get built, but that's alright. Now I know what to do. Now I just need to get a Romanian kit, and a Polish underfolder and a Bulgarian 74 kit, and a... It was fun. Good food and good fellowship. Thanks again! -skuld

We had a good time even though we had to cut out early. The wives had other stuff planned for us to do. Jeff, I'm glad y'all were able to get the broken bit out of the rear trunnion rivet. I found out a long time ago that you have to use really good bits to properly drill those out. I felt bad having to leave before that was straightened out. Thanks to all who put on the build and to all those that helped out and brought food and drink.
Hope to do it again, soon. Randy |

But sometimes priorties take precedence over priorties!!! I think I missed meeting fellow board members more then building anything So, where are the pics?? |

Skuld, Sledgehammer, and Faltitude, thanks for coming guys, I was really glad to have you. We had a big crowd, and I didn't get as much time to set down with everyone and visit like I would have liked to. Thanks for the help, food, and company. Magnus is coming back this coming Sun. and bringing his press so we can try and get finished on our builds. Y'all are more than welcome to join us if you need to work on yours.
Thanks again for coming. Eddie |
