thats perfect. looks like you found "the load".
my savage 10FP LE-2 in .308 did almost that good once, but you could still tell there were other bullets going through, it was a ragged .45 hole with 4 rounds. that made me happy all over.

BD - cheap scope Simmons Pro-Hunter 6x24 - good buy for the money - do not know if it would hold up on a .308 or bigger, but dandy on the .223

My best groups tend to be 1/2 the size of my average and 1/3 the size of my worst:
.45", .87", 1.4" for my best rifle 3", 6", 9" for my average rifles. My worst rifles do not stay on the paper

You won't find a more honest guy than Solvability! Since I've been going to the range with him (3 -4 months), he has been working on reloading for that rifle. We both have a Savage .223 and he's been trying to beat my .31" group and now I know I've got my work cut out for me... Back to the drawing board I guess. Unfortunately, what works well in his rifle won't group well in mine and vice-versa. Now, if only my Imbel GL receiver would arrive (Monday, I hope!), I'll be able to put my very first FAL together.

Well now jrm927 - thanks - funny thing though the load that did that in the Savage is a clunker in the AR15 - still my best load for both is the Varget 26.5 load that does not shoot in your rifle - go figure. Oh and by the way send a contributon to Falfiles - thats the cost for my help with your build! Get that contributor status going - it is worth it.

I'm guessing 100 yards? Man, nice shooting. I've got the Savage in .308 (10FP) and I'm in the process of working up a load right now.

OK, one hole is nice, but that one hole is still about 1/8 inch left of center!
You must have been shooting southward on a day after Wednesday with the Sun low in the western sky. Try shooting on a day before Wednesday either at noon or after dark to adjust for the negative effects of karma and solar radiation and that should knock the slop out of your groups. Just kidding. That’s incredible!

I am happy when my .223s stay under an inch, but the wind is usually too high for that.
I check accuweather hourly prediction for the zip code for the range a couple days in advance: http://home.accuweather.com/adcbin/p...er=accuweather

My Best 100 Yard Group Ever
Awesome! I wish that my Savages would group that well.
I have two Model 10FPs, .223 and .308 but they are pre-Accutrigger. After I bought the Model 110FP w/Accutrigger I realized how bad the triggers really are. Now I'm looking for a couple of good aftermarket triggers. Carl |
