New anti virus software = no post count update? Just me?

I installed new anti virus, firewall software a week or so ago and noticed my post count never changes. Actually it dropped a couple thousand.

Is this due to the software or is anyone else experiencing the same?

No biggie but I wondered if it was just me.

I have anti spam...all the bells and whistles. It always registers 8377 for me on all my posts and shows 8377 here.

I think it has to do with something that Ted did. My post count dropped a month or two ago and I have changed nothing.

Whatever I did a month ago probably has little to do with all the things Mark changed since then. C'mon, put your thinking caps on!

Oh: YOU, Mark. What exactly did you install? Does your f/w have a cookie for every FAL Files visit?

WTH is that?? Greek?

I had the same software on my last computer and had none of these issues. I also noticed when I put a "(

) smilie up now it doesn't bow but just stays bent down. My cookies are set right because I don't have to log on each time I get on.

Nice to know you think it's my software...but how about some ideas to fix it? Anyone? I could always delete the software and go "naked". That option doesn't give me a fuzzy warm feeling.

OK...I shut of all Firewall and anti-virus software. Let's see what happens to my post count...and lets see if BOW works.

Nope. BOW remains bent over permanently and post count is the same.

Those are the cookies I have embedded in my FAL Files accounts. If you don't have them, the system doesn't know it's you, and won't reveal anything to you.

And you're still the only one I know of w/o a round-count. Has to be soemthing on your end, in your software and permissions. What f/w, browser, etc, are you using.

PS- CLEAR ALL your cookies, wherever they are, and shutdown/restart. Log in anew.

I've noticed the same problem for some time. I haven't upgraded any fire walls which is usually the culprit when I have problems with this site.
I've been hopelessly stuck at post 413.
Mark please let us know if you get it figured out.

Jen may be doing some maintenance that involves updating counters. But nothing we do would make your count 'stick', that I'm aware of.

I quit counting (I know), so I don't look for it.

EVERYBODY needs to clear ALL their cache periodically.

I logged off Fal Files and logged back on which said it cleaned cookies, shut off my firewall so we'll see what happens.

ARRRGH!

Same 8389 post showing up on each post. Now it changed to 8390 but shows that on ALL posts. Same thing with everyone elses post counts.

I give up.

Screw it.

Thanks for the help. I shut down my computer and restarted it as well but nothing helps.

Maybe I should take this to the Conspiracy section?

It will always (AND ONLY) show your latest post count. It is dynamic in all posts by you, not static. If it went up one, then it must be counting.

I have no clue how I dropped from 10,000 + to this level...but it must be working now...right? I also don't know what changes I made that made it count...but don't care.
