Another Indian ammo ?

Indian 7.62 x 51 ......OFV 74 7.62 M80 headstamp

I did a search but didnt come across this headstamp specifically.

Anyone have any info on this particular round?

5 rd stripper clip pulled at random from bandelere, ammo looked clean, overall length measured between 2.86 to 2.88.

I know I have probably spun the wheel of chance with this ammo.

Definitely Indian. Definitely caution is order of the day, especially at such an age.

I can not explain what is up with Indian ammo 'quality'...but I have had a bunch of OFV 1970s production... and while it is not the worlds BEST ammo, it did not have the problems seen in the recent production.

That older Indian ammo seems to be of better quality except that some of it uses clorrosive primers. You should definetly clean your gun after shooting this stuff.

Indian Corr/Noncorr 7.62NATO

In the Indian 7.62NATO the 'OFV' headstamp is Boxer/Noncorrosive Primed...The 'KF' headstamp is Berdan/Corrosive. At least in that eariler 1970s production.

Finally got to shoot some of this Indian ammo tonite.
No problems whatsoever, if 2 mag fulls count as an adequate test.
No chronograph but I didnt have to do any adjustment to the gas setting and ejection pattern was on par with Venezualan and Aussie F4 that had been ran thru same FAL a few weeks ago.
Accuracy was not bad, wind was blowing like heck here today and I was not using a rest, just offhand standing.

All in all, it looks acceptable so far but I will keep an eye on it for sure.
