Any chance of getting some close ups of the lettering and Star of David? I would love to replicate on my clone.

Israel, having rather notoriously poor maintenance of small arms by settlers yadayada (in contrast to their other prowesses), developed this dust cover. You see them in photos, but not too often in commerce.

Too bad you couldn't hunt up some nice looking furniture for that thing, Pat.

Love to see a pic with the dust cover open.

Is the dust cover factory attached to the body cover or is it a removable add on to a standard receiver & body cover combo?

Very cool.

PS: IMHO your handguard spacer is in the wrong spot. I have never seen a pic of a genuine service rifle with a spacer in the rear position. I know Americans put them there most of the time. If anybody has a pic of an issue rifle with the spacer in the rear slot I would love to see it, Hbbl or 50.00.

It is a complete dust cover assembly - slides on as a unit in place of the original cover. I picked one up at a show 5 -6 years ago not knowing its exact provenance ( nor did the seller ) IIRC, paid about $35 - 40 for it in perfect shape. One of my few lucky decisions
I'm quite sure correct "as issued" location for the spacer on an Izzy LB is one only, in the forward slot. Not as positive about the HBs. Probably not "wrong" where it is, as in the field almost anything could and did happen. A friend who served remembers the LBs well and confirms the front only location, but he doesn't recall about the HBs since he had less exposure to them.

What a beautiful example of an Izzy HB, truly a labor of love. I agree with Brian in that I would love to get some additional detail on the dust-cover. First decent pics of one that I have ever seen. Additional detailed pics would be an excellent addition to the R&D Forum as well. Finally, was the receiver originally imported as a genuine Type 1? Most of the Israeli receivers that I have seen were of the Armscorp/S.B.L. type and lacked the lightening cut detail on the mag-well.

The spacer is in the only place that you can put the spacer. The front location isn't cut into the metal.

Brian the heavy barrel handguard metal only has one cut out for the spacer and that is in the rearward position, the wood part has two cut outs.

Thanks, Pat. That is very interesting. I have never seen a published pic with a HB spacer to the rear.

Well, I'm holding a like new set in my hand with both slots cut, so apparently there's some variation - but that's not a surprise when it comes to FALs, is it !!

Light barrel metal is cut in two places and the Heavy 's are cut in the rear position.
Don't argue Jim or I wont send you your Belgian H/B

Geez, Pat, you sure know how to be convincing
You've got me looking to see if maybe these have been modified and refinished - doesn't look it and they're definitely HB. Would seem that two spacers on the HB would be unlikely - although I don't have one right here to look at ( yet
I would think the the barrel taper would mean if the rear fit the front would be well clear of the barrel and thus useless. I'd better get rid of these HGs before 1) Pat carries out his threat and 2) I get a crazed urge to build an Izzy HB .
Couldn't compete with Pats, that is about as perfect and pretty as I've ever seen

All of the HB HGs that I have seen have/had the metal cut for only the rear spacer...

I seriously thought about cutting the metal for the front one too on a rifle that I am building up using the HB handguards, but finally decided to leave them alone.

Besides, the HGs, which I received from gunthings.com, were in such great shape (new) that it would suck to cut them...
