Still having issues

Im still having issues with my FAL's, the one ive given up on till I can check it's headspace but the other is just being annoying. Heres the past thread about it.

http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showt...ight=Fal+Grunt

Anyway, ive stripped the lower and looked it over, can't see any binding, took the springs and switched them out and that definetly wasn't it, re-switched em and it's still having the same problem. I can't figure this out. Im so confused.

Anyway I took it out shooting the other day, shooting the OFV stuff from the ammo store (pretty clean but didn't do any accuracy for it) and it functioned ok on 2 (yea I have to open the gas port up some) but whenever you would fire the trigger would stick back. Now if you just pull the trigger normaly then it will reset, but if you pull the trigger while pulling the bolt back or firing the it sticks. Can't figure it out. Sear maybe? I don't know. -myers

Any chance you have the Trigger return spring and the sear spring reversed?

Yea, thats what was suggested the first time, "ive stripped the lower and looked it over, can't see any binding, took the springs and switched them out and that definetly wasn't it, re-switched em and it's still having the same problem." Anyway, tried that, any others? thanks though -myers

What brand of trigger group do you have ? CAI ?

Maybe just need some polishing on the back surface edges of the sear and trigger . Break the sharp edges and remove any casting mold lines.

Make sure of no interference from inside of PG on trigger plunger. Does it act the same way with PG removed? See if it acts the same way with the selector removed. Make sure sear is not binding where it sits inside trigger. Replace sear and trigger return spring altogether to see if problem remains. I'd bet it's a bind somehow between the sear and trigger though. HTH-

Yes, with the trigger held back the sear seats in the pocket of the trigger(or should). You can watch this action with the lower off the rifle. As you release the trigger the sear clears the trigger shelf and the sear will move to the rear and the hammer will rotate slightly forward.
Take the parts out of the rifle and assemble the trigger, sear and spring on the trigger pin. The sear should fit into the pocket and move up and down without feeling any drag.

I'll try all of the suggestions when I next get home. It's a imbel trigger group in a imbel lower. It worked fine, took it all apart, painted it, now it won't work.

Well see!!! I'll post when I next time get home. -myers

FALGRUNT,

This is a minor thing, but something I always do...After painting my lower, I take a punch and wrap emery paper around it and clean the excess paint from the pin holes with a circular and in and out motion. Makes the trigger function smooth and no problems with binding pins, etc. Just like using emery on the sharp edges of the receiver at the mag slot...makes things smoother!
