I think you must be a paying contributor to start a poll. TX35 isn't.

As of right now I have a loaded stainless Ruger Blackhawk .45LC (wife's) above the range in the kitchen downstairs.
I have a loaded Glock 22 on the desk next to me now. (It's my CCW and I removed it prior to sitting at the computer). Upstairs I have a loaded SKS and a Browning shotgun with some rounds in a side-saddle. They're "locked" in a glass case next to the unloaded other rifles. I keep the SKS loaded b/c my wife says it's the first one she would instinctively reach for (upstairs). I don't have a particular "house-gun". If I had a preference it would be towards the Blackhawk, as I've only had the Glock a week now and the rifles are a bit clunky in a house. The rifles would require more time to bring to bear, possibly okay in the unlikely event I need a "yard-gun". I've considered building a shorty-12ga high-capacity pump shotgun for home defense. But IMO those firearms have no redeeming value other than home defense. I hunt and target shoot more often, so until I have the disposable funds available, I'll make do with what I have.

If you mean what do I set aside as just that - it's 12 ga 870 and my Sig 9mm is usually within close proximity to my bed - Also cellphone, flash light, and some other stuff.
I live in burbs now so not looking for long range most of the time, for country living I'd choose .223 or .308 to join the 12 ga to repel boarders - you have to define what you are doing with the weapon. I just want to get them to leave my house and hope they are caught by the thin blue web that's out there. I've had other guns (.357 revolver for one, 1911a1 for another) I'm confident with most of guns to get the job done. But have toned back since 9/11 or Y2K worries.

My anti-house gun is a 90mm, mounted on a Pershing. I can take out my entire neighborhood in less than 5 minutes, if the need arises.
My home defense gun is a Benelli Nova, backed up by a CZ40P.

My house gun is a fly gun I bought at a truck stop.It fires a spring-loaded plastic dart with a fly-swatter front section (with a string to permit tactical reloads).Works great, silent, and it's the only one my wife lets me shoot in the house. And I never wash it so it has little bits of nasty fly guts from the last 20 years on it.For home defense I use CLASSIFIED with hard gamma.

Brown Bess .75 musket with 17" bayonet.
If I miss, the flash and smoke blind them long enough for me to gut them! If I hit them, a 1oz soft lead ball means that they cease to be a problem. Bayonet has enough length to get them behind a door. 1gewehr

Hi all,
My "house gun" is a Glock 19. It's fitted with Meprolight orange/green night sights and a Surefire G2Z with 120 lumines is always by my side! Can't have the gun loaded in the house over here in the Netherlands, but my defence ammo would be Federal 105gr EFMJ. Stefan out

Smith and Wesson Model 64 - .38 Special. Loaded with Hydra-Shok +Ps. Figure it's something the wife can shoot pretty easily; she's not into guns, but she will shoot her revolver once in a while.

The only guns that aren't locked up are a Mossy 590 w/buck & ball (slugs) - .44 Charter Bulldog Pug kept close at hand - FAL "somewhere" around the house w/full 20rd. mag nearby.
The .44 usually accompanies me when I'm working in my shop unless I've already got something else out... |

I guess it depends on what's in season. Most of the time I don't want to spook the critters. So I just open the door and crap on anybody tries to come up the ladder.

Glock 19, w/ Meprolights, loaded w/ 15 rds. of Speer 115gr. +P Gold Dots, on the bedside table, with a Streamlight flashlight,
An Uzi model B carbine, with two 25 rd. mags L-clipped together. loaded with some Swedish 9mm surplus ball, in the gun cabinet a few steps away, and right next to it, an 870 with 5 rounds of S&B 00 Buck. I also have an AK with 25 rounds of ball in the mag, but my condo complex is too crowded to really consider it. None of my FAL mags are loaded; I don't anticipate anything getting that bad that quickly, where I wouldn't have a few minutes to load up a bunch.
