Boycott Kauffman Tire Company
I have been a customer of Kauffman Tire for almost 15 years and spent thousands during that time. My son, Charlie and I usually take the cars in for service.
A couple of months ago he took my van in for service and then two weeks later took his own. Now, you have to understand, my son is a slob with his van but al that aside, his treatment there was horrendous. He was sitting in the waiting room waiting for them to put new brakes on his van when all of a sudden several police officers approached him. It seems the manager on duty was alerted by the mechanic that my son had "weapons" in his van and called the police. The "weapons" they were referring to were plastic airsoft pistols that were on the back seat of the van partially covered up by papers. He also had a couple of knives in the back of the van. Nothing was in the drivers seat where the mechanic would have to sit to drive in and out of the bay. The explanation I got from the manager on duty was that he has weapons in the van and the mechanics were concerned. I asked him if he bothered to check his name in the computer to see if he was at least a repeat customer or asked him why they were there. I complained to the corporate office and was assured that they would take care of everything. They did refund his money for the brake job (and refunded mine which was not done right in the first place) and promised him a gift, which never came. Then just to see how they would react I called them a couple of weeks ago to let them know that I was in need of tires and wanted them to know that someone else will now get my money. In a feable attempt to win me back they apologized for not sending us the $100.00 gift certificate that was supposed to be sent in the first place. I was told I would have it within a week. I still have not received it and bought my new tires elsewhere. As you can imagine after being such a loyal customer for years I was completely appauled by the stupidity on the part of that manager (who has since left the company). However, more importantly I am equally amazed that the corporate office would make promises to keep my business and fail to do so. I was not really looking for a freebie but if you make a promise you should keep it. Imagine if they call the police for plastic airsoft guns that cost less than $20.00 what would they do if you had a flat tire on the way back from the shooting range or a hunting trip and had to stop in to buy a new tire. They might call the SWAT team. Well, thanks for taking the time to read my post. Cyn |

Funny thing is that little old ladies normally aren't scared of guns, but a lot of grown men will quiver at the sight of a gun. |

Bullet,
I plan on it. Thanks for the support. 16R40 Troll As for them not doing mine right in the first place, the actual store manager was going to the Kia dealer that day to buy the right pads to do mine right but I told them if the man that called the cops was still working in that store on Saturday when I came back to have mine fixed I wasn't coming. I went to Kia instead. |

Sorry. I agree with Bullet. Either a copy of the reciept or send them a picture of your nice new tires bought elsewhere.

Yes, I did have to pay Kia and quite a bit more but it was worth it to take my business elsewhere. I think the Kauffman Tire people thought I was bluffing.
