Post Clinton Ban: What is the best FAL I can buy/build today?

It is time for me to get another FAL.... I am currently FAL-less.

I have access to a new condition Australian parts kit for $250 if I really want it.

I want a very good quality FAL that will handle high desert (Utah) conditions. So I am thinking either an L1A1 or a FAL with L1A1 bolt carrier (sand slots). I would run it with the scope cover to mount a low power scope.

What would you recommend in today's post Clinton pre Kerry world...and if it be a parts gun, who should build it for me?

If'n I was you, I would jump on that!

Even if you dont build it, its still a good investment since we, unfortunately, wont be getting the Aussie surplus kits.

If I were you I would PM Cadillac and see if he has any of his CGW built guns for sale left.
