AMD-65 Folder
Ok, this may be in the upper 10% of the dumbest questions asked, but here it goes. Do the rivits in the AMD-65 rear trunion go all the way through?? I've been hammering and hammering and can't get them to budge. Do I have to drill them all the way out?? This is streching my wits.
Thanks, Aaron

You have one that does and two that do not. The lower one goes all the way through and the upper two I am not sure how they are shot in? Keep drilling. They are soft and just want to swedge into the hole. I am going with a Romanian (sp it's late) folder. I like the design better and they run about $40.00

The AMD rear trunnion for the folder goes all the way through. Make sure you measure the access holes on the bottom of the trunnion to cut the holes in the bottom of the receiver to enable the locking mechanism, to remove the pivot pin, etc. mine from left to right, looking down, trunnion facing rear were as follows:
actuating screw and spring hole: .328" dia middle hole .389" pivot pin .220" I am going to drill a pilot hole and find bits within .002 ro finish out, then edge them with a dremel stone barrel to bevel the edges. the centerlines are as follows: actuator : .272" middle hole: .304" pivot pin: .272" the centerline is from the rear of the trunnion towards the front, you need to establish yourself where the side measurements would be to create the 'axis point'. I also had to hand-fit my stock to the trunnion. Try it before you put everything together. Just use a pin close to the size to try it. My stock lug was too thick for the trunnion so I filed it and now it's like a Mercedes door closing. One word of caution though, my Tapco rear rivets were too short. They just went flush to the other side. You need to drill the old ones through, just use a 4mm cobalt or titanium coated drill, use some thin oil too, kerosene or olive oil work great. Last point, there are little 'tabs' that go up the side of the receiver into grooves on the top of the rear trunnion. Note that these are tapered TO THE REAR. You need to insert the trunnion AHEAD of the rear, tap it back and then engaging the tabs, tap lightly with the arear around the tabs in a vise with wood clamping them moderately. Otherwise, they tabs that you have created will rip off the receiver. Another way is to just spread the rear a little and push them into the slots. I find that an easier way, due to the ton of fitting required using a DIY receiver blank. Hope that helps! Mark Greven
