Anyone know what this sight is?
A recent purchase, I was wondering if anyone had seen this type of Canadian sight before other then it being up for sale.
Is it possible this it's in fact an experimental 'Donut' sight. If you keep both eyes open you can get a red circle superimposed on a 'target'. I just love strange and interesting items like this

No I have never seen anything like it, it really looks sorta like a real early "reddot"

Looks for all the world like an early OEG (Occluded Eye Gunsight). It bears an operating (not physical) resemblance to the British BSA Unisight, but not anywhere near as tidy as the later Singlepoints.
Boffins! Nice catch!

Yeah it dose seem very 'Singlepoint' in a oversize way. I guess one day I might stumble over the correct ID of this sight. I found some interesting pics in the 1987/88 Janes Infantry weapons manual that gives all the details of the maker and model of this reflex sight trialed in NZ in the late 80's.
I have yet to photocopy the relevant page but it also showed the 'current' Trilux sights available and there is a clip on 'Trilux' night sight for the FAL (front and rear sights), from memory it was from FN. Something else to photocopy.

Yep, an OEG... some prototype that had to prove the concept before it could reach its present refined (and slender) state. Those windage and elevation adjustments are industrial strength too.
Sweet find! |
