Sighting In problems
I have a lightweight Israeli model SAR 48, and the rear sight is a (high sitting) round dial, that can be turned from 100 - 600 meters. Each setting has a separate smaller hole. I have not seen this type before, but am not familiar enough w/Fals to know.
When I fired the rifle, it shot almost two feet high at 50 yds. Anyone has any recommendations on this? Would I need a larger numbered (?) front sight? as I have read on another thread, I am not sure of which one I have now if I would need another. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, |

You have a Canadian rotor sight, an Inch pattern. IF your SAR is Metric (it should be), the taller back sight is (guess what) making your rounds hit too high.
What numbers, or how many dots (yes dots, not holes) appear on the foresight pin base?

It has four dots (holes) for adjusting the elevation.
Thanks for your reply, |

There are literlally dots, which are different from holes. The holes penetrate the base completely. The dots are smaller, shallow impressions that do not go through. They are a 'size' (o-dots to 4-dots). See HERE in R&D
So, we need to know the difference. Can you take a pic? There are usually only 2 holes, regardless of how many dots. IF you already have a 4-dot, then you need to extend it out (CCW turns) as far as proactical to make the POI shift lower. Is the gas block open-earred (Inch, early Isralei & Metric) or closed-earred (Metric)?

I checked the front site, and there are two dots on one side, and one on the other. You were right, there are two adjustment holes. The sight post is round, and looks like the metric from the pic you suggested.
I believe I have the metric gas block. It has an A on top and a G on bottom. Not sure whether open eared or closed- not sure what defines that. And I am falignorant. Does this help? Pls. let me know, if not I will go to friend's house and take pics, and email to you. Thank you again. I appreciate your assistance. |

You have a 3-dot. The tallest is a 4-dot, and it only adds 0,65mm to the post's height. it will not be capable of getting your 2' POI adjustment. Get a short Metric backsight (Dan's, FAC, addy in MArketplace) and that will help significantly.
I suspect your rifle is NOT really 'Israeli' (donor) but configured to 'look' Israeli. The Canadian rotor is a dead giveaway. I've sent you an e-mail from the Files.
