Yankee Hill Machine

I bought a Mid Lenght FF Rail LW for my Beowulf and let me say for the price of 95.00! You can not go wrong! It was not to hard to install even though I had to remove the gas block and put on a new barrel nut, but I enjoyed doing this.....I would highly recommend this rail for your AR.

I also have added some OD Magpul Panels I still need to get more OD stuff but this is just to show what it looks like.

I must agree with you about the YHM quad rail handguards, they do look mighty nice and for the price you can't go wrong.

Bigant,

I'm thinking of getting one of these YHM rails and I noted your setup... Is your scope mount attached half to the upper, and half to the handguard? Have you had any problems doing this?

I want to move my scope mount forward to a point that would cause the mount (one-piece Armalite) to straddle the handguard/receiver interface. I'm concerned about putting stress on the mount by doing this (due to flex at the joint). Buying a long-ass ARMS rail to join the two up is not an option because it will raise my scope up way too high...

Also, where did you buy it? YHM's website has it listed for $128... Let me know your source! Thanks...

I have not had a chance to take it to the range yet, but it will fit just like it normally would if your putting on a rail or flat-top, you just have to have it just right on the upper and rail. ...I put it in the middle to help with stablizing the rail, and have read that this is the best way. I bought mine from brightflashlites@aol.com

Another question for you Bigant... OK, the rails are the same height, but what about the spacing of the notches? Is it consistent from receiver to handguard?

Perhaps a diagram will better illustrate. Pretend the X's are the "teeth" and the _ is the notch.

A single long rail would do this:

X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X

There's a break due to the handguard ring, but spacing should be consistent:

X_X_X_X_X_X_XringX_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X

My big question, is there any chance the spacing works out like this:

X_X_X_X_X_X_Xring_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X

...where the two, when joined up, will not have the same spacing of one complete unbroken rail?

Perfect: X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X
Perfect: X_X_X_X_X_X_XringX_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X
.....Bad: X_X_X_X_X_X_Xring_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X_X

Which one is it?

I ask this longwinded, ill-explained question because my mount will need to fit into the notches on both the handguard rail and the receiver rail. It's not just a simple clamp-down, the spacing of the notches will be critical.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. Hope I was clear!

Here's another thumbs up for YHM. I have their rails on my postban M-4 setup. The covers are YHM also.

Bigant,

Thank you very much for posting those pics. I added some brightness to them and they were very helpful. It looks like the notches all line up and that the two surfaces will act like one un-interrupted rail. I'll feel better about dropping the $150 now (rifle length).
