The earliest Izzys I've seen were basically the standard FAL "Canada",i.e/ plain muzzle, bayo lug, high open ear sights, 1 pc extractor, except for having those unique handguards. Later they frequently threaded the same barrels for the standard cmuzzle combo device, retaining the now useless lug. All of them I've seen also used the "ring" mag catch.

By the way, that means wood PG, type B wood butt w/o ferrule, although I'd bet it didn't take long to go to the synthetic PG and type c butt with ferrule for improved durability. No trap in the butt, high rear sight to match front. FN offered bolt carriers with partial sand cuts, that is the carrier rails were cut, but the carrier sides were not , unlike the distinctive angular cuts on inch carriers. Israel used this with there domesticly built guns and incorporated the forward assist charging handle which used the carrier cuts to act on. I can't say whether Israel ordered aqny of the partial cut carriers on contract guns or not, but I would think it pretty likely. I'm sure there arte a few guys out there who can expand upo this.

The first type of FAL that Israel purchased in 1955 looked like the 'T48' and had:-
Plain muzzle. Bayonet lug on Barrel. Open eared Gas Block. 'T48' handguards. Standard type cocking handle (NOT the later 'bolt assist' type). "Ring" type Magazine Catch. Israeli designed hinge pin (has three holes on one side and a long slot on the other). Type 'A' wooden Butt. Israeli marked '2 finger' safety. Israeli marked 'tall' rear sight (most likely 600 meter marked ramp?) Type 'B' wooden Butt. Type 'B' Butt Plate. I think that covers the basics of the FN FAL 'Canadian model' (later changed designation to Model 50:00) layout in a nutshell. Items like the wood/metal handguards, bolt assist cocking handle and all other manor of Israeli marked items 'YN' are generally Israeli made items and modifications/developments to the original FN FAL design and due to making the rifle themselves.
