DSA Cali FALs - how to modify back to standard?

I am looking to buy a California legal FAL from DSA. I plan to move next year to Arizona. When I get to free America, how easy would it be to convert my FAL to a normal rifle that accepts standard magazines? Do they weld the fixed mag in place?

I am not suggesting anything illegal. This is for informational purposes only.

I don't know particularily about DSA's Cali FAL but I had Arizona Response Systems build me a Cali FAL and have since moved out of the state and it was fairly easy to convert back to normal. Basically instead of a spring on the magazine release it was effectively a screw in it to push it out and hold it in the correct position. So all you had to do to switch it back is unscrew that and pop in a standard mag release and spring.

As far as I know the law is just that the magazine should require a tool to be removed(To qualify as a fixed mag in CA) so I would hope that DSA would do something similar to what was done on my FAL. Boy am I glad to be done with those restrictions and in TX....

DSA welds the mag catch to the receiver... Good luck.

Why don't they just sell it without a pistol grip instead? That is what Robinson Arms does with their M96. It seems like this would meet the requirements of our dumb laws.

Isn't the pistol grip "stud" just a removeable long bolt? Couldn't it just be unscrewed?
