Brothers New FAL Build

My brother and I just finished test firing and sighting in his STG58 ( 2003 Imbel Rcvr, 99,xxx serial no. Austrian Steyr kit) We started at 1030 am this morning and fired it at 4 pm. The Quality Control on Imbels in 2003 must have been better than the 2002 series because the barrel timed correctly and the locking shoulder needed just 5/10,000 taken off to headspace correctly. He and I both fired it and it was very accurate. His last firing was 3 shots in the center of a beer can at 75 yards. Group was about 1.25 inches fired from the bipod resting on a cooler. Good enough without a bench rest.
This was the second build I have done and it certainly went smoother than my rifle build went.
Anyway, he is happy with it and I am glad he was able to get the particular reciever that he bought.
Thanks again for the good information that is floating around this site.

FAL's before beer of course.
He is still stoked about that rifle. He carried it a pretty long ways the following day while we were out walking around looking for arrowheads and other artifacts. I think I heard him muttering something about a sling.
They can get heavy after a while, more so than any of the other rifles I have. Humping one of these will definately make a strongman of you.
Now I need to loan him my 5 round hunting magazine and see if he can translate the marksmanship from can o' beer to rack o' deer.
