Denali Chest rig?
I need some opinions on this gear, by Highspeed. This is a totally different concept for me as far as carrying the load up high on the chest. Any responses from the field? What packs work best with this?

I have an HSGI Wasatch chest system and love it.
the idea behind chest systems is that it gets the gear up above the waist where it will not flop around as much with movement. I have gear from HSGI, Paraclete, TAS, BlackHawk, Tactical Tailor, SpecOps, SDS, and USGI. I'd say the HSGI stuff is about as good as it gets quality wise. Chest systems do make it uncomfortable to go prone but I think the benefits during movement outweigh that. Some people go with a split system like the TT MAV2 so they can open up the front when they go prone and get down lower comfortably. I have a TT MAV 2 and plan to get the padded shoulder yoke for it soon. Stuff seems to shift too much with the individual straps when loaded down. Since the Denali is only a front chest rig (no plate carrier or PALS webbing in the back) and the straps are not padded, you should be able to run any pack you want. The hip belt will run below the harness. It is hard to know if you are going to like this stuff without trying it on and checking it out before you buy. That may be why there are so many good deals on lightly used gear. good luck with your puchase.

I've got the SADF chest rig. Chest rigs would be my preferred choice as I find it easier and faster to carry out IAs and stoppage drills from prone as all your mags are right there near your hands. Plus you can carry any pack you want and you are not tempted to weigh yourself down with so much crap as with other LBE.
