Pre-Ban CIA Rifles

Did CIA ever produce or sell "pre-ban" FAL rifles such as the L1A1 with the Imbel receiver marked "Sporter"?
Thanks,

They built pre-'94 but post '89 ban. Still has to be 922r compliant.

CIA Rifles

OK, I've been offered a CIA L1A1 as a pre-ban. It has the FH and all original English furniture. Could this rifle be legal and if so, how would you prove it?
Value?
Thanks again!

Most likely not.

as a pre 94 it still needs 7 US Parts.

We need more info as to receiver markings exact receiver markings serial number "C" prefix? , import markings under the barrel. There are some pre 94 post 89 rifles out there. Do a search, this has been beat to death here there is a wealth of information to be found.

P.S. Century will be of no help either.

Put "gunplumber" in you search. He did a great review and explination. Simply, he maintains that there are not "pre-ban" CAI FAL's. He is generally right. Though, there is still some question as to the possibility of "pre-ban" CAI FAL's. Try and get a receipt.

My CAI is configured as a preban and was so when I bought it. I bought it in the first months of 1990. So, was it imported prior to 1989 ban? Who knows, but it was still plenty legal to retrofit them into non-importable condition using all foreign parts until 11/90.

My SN is 4XX and it is a receiver with no marks other than "CAI". No import marks anywhere.
