Check this out...Nebraska FAL/L1A1 Gunsmith

I know these guys well, they do excellent work on FALS and AR's. Cowboy Action stuff is there thing right now, but they always have soft spot for assualt type rifles, pistols and target rifles. If you're in Nebraska or nearby state give these guys a call for your gunsmithing needs. www.runniron.com

Holy Cow!!

A Gunsmith outside of Arizona will wonder never cease!! I knew my home state was hiding them somewhere. Lincoln which might as well be Florida with all the old people and College kids and Omaha might as well be Chicago with all the frickin crime it has I thought the state was going down the crapper with all the taxes to boot.

I look forward to coming home some day.

Bertram is quite a ways away. Closer to you than us, east of Grand Island.

I used Travis at Frerking Custom Gunworks, Cortland NE (south of Lincoln on Hwy 77) Gunsmith, refinishes, custom work on 1911’s, AR’s. He transfered the receivers for me at a modest charge. Helpful & knowlegable.

Anyway, it's good to know someone is more than WESCOGing up in the SandHills.

Keep looking, more will show up.

Thorack, your due to come home now.

Mark

Dude, I have seen these guys at several gunshows within 100 miles of me, namely Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney (I think)!!

I have personally seen, handled, and drooled over that L1a1 with the wood furniture. It is the only FAL I have ever seen that is FULLY blued, talk about sweet.

He also has several very Nice AR rifles

2clickslow, I've been hangin' around their shop for the past 2 years, I've pretty much beat their eardrums to death with compliance issues(as I was building my kits), so if they didn't know before , they certainly have known for the past 2 yrs. Just inspect the rifles internals for US made bolt & carriers, piston rods, hts sets, muzzle brakes, and they use a lot of entreprise and dsa receivers on their builds too. Some of their rifles are complete pre ban. Their external finishes are awesome, they try to retain as much of the original parts on the outside and comply from the inside out. If you do happen to find an error in their US count they gladly will make good on the situation for they don't want any problems for you the buyer nor themselves. You find no better "Smiths" in my area than them ,when it comes to true gunsmithing ability on different types of weapons.

Hey newfalguy, I've been thinking of doing my next one fire blued lower and barrel, case color the receiver and original dust cover. Then put Zebrawood or other nice wood furniture on it. Maybe even get some small amount of gold inlayed engraving done to make real high dollar. Don't pinch me, I like this dream!!

Maybe your right about the gold inlay engraving.... maybe just fill in the Imbel Gear Logo and the selector area with gold.....kinda like the getting the gold ornamental stuff on a Cadillac.
I'd have to check on that $2000 FAL, I doubt it's even near that amount...

I very well may be wrong about the price, but, considering all of the labor involved in polishing for a good bluing job, I dont think I am far off.

Then there is the wood stock, those dont come cheap, the kit, receiver, and assuming they did, all of the compliance parts.

this is the rifle I am talking about, or one like it anyway:
