question about barrel whip

I am aware that the AK suffers from barrel whip. I did not know the FN has the same problem.

Is this true? I haven noticed this at the range, I am getting real good groups.

Anyone got information on this?

Every rifle has "barrel harmonics" or whip. That is why applying pressure against the barrel by using the sling or pulling the forend down against sandbags when shooting can affect the POI(Point of Impact). By putting even slight pressure on some barrels, the "Harmonics" are changed and the bullet
leaves the muzzle at just so slightly at a different monent in the "whip" of the
barrel, caused by the explosion in the chamber and the resulting surge down the barrel. Some designs are less affected that others by this. Many people
favor "free floating" barrels for this very reason! With the barrel "free floating"
any pressure against the forend does not affect the barrel, and the harmonics
are in theory the same for every shot....

I understand "barrel harmonics", just never heard it called 'whip'.

Thanks
