PDA Shopping
My Dell Axim X5 died on me recently, and I'm looking to replace it. The X5 was overkill for what I was doing with it, and I know a lot has changed since I last purchaced.
I need a PDA that lets me download emails and Excel files, and I want to go cheap, as I work outside in the dirt, rain, sun, mud, ect. Anybody got any suggestions? Ben |

Ahh, you are aware of the key, and therefore no longer a good consumer: buy only what you need! I use the Palm Tungsten E, and love it. I use it for watching movies on planes all the time and highly recommend it. It is also good for Excel, but you will need to get an SD based 802.11b card to do email. In general I avoid HP and Sony: HP has a very poor quality reputation (especially around my work who issues them like kleenex, and tosses them just as often) and Sony has gone overboard with this memorystick thing. Proprietary formats are a pain.
You should be able to get a new Tung E for around 150-160. I have had great luck with mine, and many compliments on the screen (it really is a beauty of a screen). |

I have a Tungsten T and love it...you can do email but you need to be able to communicate with a cell phone thats blue tooth capable...You can do Excel sheets but you need Documents to Go Software which should come with it....I recommend the Tungsten line.

Public Displays of Affection are something that can be shopped for? Cool. I'm so out of date, I was unaware of such a thing.

If I was going to pay $150+ for 'affection,' I would not be accepting that affection in public.
The lowest-priced Tungsten on the Sony website is listed at $199. A Dell Axim X3 is also $199. |

I picked up my Palm M500 NIB on E-bay for $60 shipped. Does all that only in greyscale. I like the CE devices too but Palms are more compact. My Palm replaced my HPC.
