That's strange. Seems to be the same cat, same garage, same guy that killed one outside of Weatherford Tx last year.

do you guys that hunt in the mountains consider that while what ever game animal you are hunting YOU might be .......being hunted yourself? I'm serious ,now. What precautons do you take?
I have had coyotes follow me to my deer stand in the very early morning (not much light) but they are easy to scare off.....so far. I quit wearing scent and I now carry a stick with a scent rag on it.

A little more now then a few yrs ago. My friend and I walked all over this one mountain where we have always seen deer and usually elk. Nothing. Not a thing but month, or more, old tracks. So we cut across one face and deep in the brush we found week old kitty tracks. That certainly explained why there was no game to be seen. So the next question was, were we watched? Probably. Maybe. We certainly didn't see any kitties, but that doesn't mean anything.

I have called one in with a varmint call, missed it at 7 yards. They move like lightning. Several times we had them howl at us from real close, but we could never see them. The baddest animal out there is the grey fox, he will bite you given a chance, and then it's your choice to get either rabies shots or possibly rabies.

My wife and I take are son's on camping trips sometimes usually we camp in state park's in which firearms are prohibited. I don't no why but I dont make the stupid laws. Anyway I always carry my pistol at all times while camping. when it comes to my families safety are going to jail for packing in a state park, I will take the jail time. Screw these stupid laws, and when in doubt empty the mag.

A couple of years ago while hiking in the beautifull and rugged Ozark mountains in Arkansas I found some sign.
While traversing a contour in a remote area of a thickly wooded bluff I caught the scent of a spray. I have two cats one of which "was" a Tom before we stuffed him into an old boot an....anyway.... there is no mistaking the smell of cat spray. I think that it may have been just a bobcat but they do have the bigger variety there as well. Oh and the top of said area also had alot of prickly pear cactus which black bear consider yummy! Needless to say I started packing heat whenever I would hike after that. |

Hey! That's "snowflake". He hasn't come home all week. Which one of you rat-bastards shot our little snowflake. You just wait 'till his big brother finds out what you've done to the poor defenseless little runt

Here doggy doggy! Seriously, that is one BIG Puddy Cat. Here in Southern Nevada there have been several reports of big kittys in the mountains. Anyone who visits those areas where predators lurk (regardless of how many legs they may possess) without proper protection is only asking for trouble.

I grew up playing in the forest service mountains of Oregon, and spent MANY hours and days just exploring through the mountains and forests near my house, well on my own and far from anybody that might be there to help, for as far back as I can remember. I never thought anything of it (of course - I was a young kid).
I went back a few years ago and noticed a sign at the entrances to this place that I'd never noticed before was everywhere - "Cougar Warning" I don't know if they weren't there way back then or I just didn't pay close enough attention (most likely).

While driving some backroads near Enchanted Rock in central Texas, I nearly wrecked my truck when a group of 3 medium sized hogs ran in front of us while driving across a gully. 3 seconds later after coming up the backside of the wash, a mountain lion ran right in front of us across the road. I think he was stalking those pigs. I was surprised at it's coat color. It was a very dark brown. This kitty high tailed it up a small hill to our right with its tail acting like a counter balance between bounds. I have a small place in northern Palo Pinto county near Possum Kingdom lake. This area is probably the most underdeveloped area with such a close proximity to DFW. One night while camping by myself I was woke up to what I am quite sure was a mountain lion's bellowing. Although I think this picture is a hoax, them critters are out there...

I went to high school in leon, KS in the mid 80's. Just about every weekend during the summer it was one to two cases of beer and a couple of frogging poles. Glad I never came across one of those in the middle of the night. I do have a couple of buddies that were deer hunting in Ness county a few months ago and had a cat walk under their tree stand so they are out in kansas.

kotengu you were probably fine, I did the same things back then. We actually had a good hand on the population so people didn’t looks too good to them. About ten years ago they passed the no dog hunts law, idiots, and the cat population exploded. They estimate that our cougar population is now greater than before Clark and Lewis. We have them in suburban Clackamas and hanging around grade schools in Gresham. Why do I need a FAL with a high capacity magazine? Follow up shots baby, these kitties can move.

Down here in Southern Oregon we have the little kitties in our back yards from time to time since the ban on hunting with dogs.People see them quite frequently as in years before the ban you very rarely saw them. The deer populations are down, but according to powers that be the Cougar isnt the culprit.Ya right, I buy that bit of misinformation.
A lady up the road heard a comotion on her back porch and thought skunks or somthing was eating her dogs food .When she opened the door to shoo the critter off you can imagine her surprise when she saw and heard the big cat scream at her when she startled it .It didnt take her too long to close the door and call 911 only to be told there wasnt anything they could do . My father-in-law has started packing a rifle on his 4 wheeler and pistol on his person when moving sprinkler pipes on his alfalfa field during the summer months after being eyeballed on several occations by the little furballs. Maybe now we need to bring the grizzley back to to round out the ecosystem and put the couger in check Naw ,lets just make lots of rugs! My.02

According to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks says the picture was actually published in the Fall issue of the Boone and Crocket Club's magazine.
The big cat had been shot by a hunter named Ron Hisler from Duval, Washington. He got it legally about 6 miles from Bellevue, Washington yup like i said above |
