Ever read the ads "tested by Navy SEALs"? Yeah, they tested it - and tossed the piece of shit in the garbage. And the Burger King on 1st Street in Coronado probably says "favored by Navy SEALs".

But it just so happens that one of my customers, Woody, also happens to be the commander of SEAL Team 5. He loves his L1A1s, and I've been doing quite a few rifles for him this year. It just took this long to get permission from JAG to make a testimonial on letterhead - OpSec, undue influence, personal versus official capacity, and whatnot. But it's still kindof cool.

I think there were two EAI (ABNI) a DSA AD brit, an LMT Aussie, and another I can't recall.

Here's three I had at the same time. Bottom one I hadn't refinished yet. (large)

To have really learned any language, ya got to be immersed in the culture, surrounded by it 24/7 for a long while.

We have four elderly retired scientist types that sit together in my Thursday class, last week, they were chatting during a break, I picked up German, Polish, English, French, Hebrew, and some Yiddish, all in a three minute conversation being used and none of them old men missed a beat.

Languages come easy for some, many people, but I ain't one of them.

Someone asked once, how would anyone know that G-D or his messenger had truly returned to the earth, and I commented, he would be able to speak every language used on earth.

Language capabilities stopped humans from shitting in their caves, at least for most humans.

Anyone else feel a bit weird reading cursive? I take short hand notes in it, but this is the first time I've read someone else's cursive in years. It's almost a dead font.

I write in maybe 2/3 cursive 1/3 print.

Cursive is good for maximizing the amount of words in your quill pen between dips in the ink pot, without getting drips from lifting it off the parchment.

It is dying as any other obsolete technology should.

I'd rather have learned to write as a draftsman than cursive in the 3rd grade.

For me those fractions are somewhat reversed. Most of my scrawl is print, with odd bits of cursive thrown in. I have to really focus on the task if I want to leave out the cursive letters, they just seem to naturally slip into the sentence. A nicely hand written note such as this one, on official letterhead is a sign of deep respect, does not happen that often.

In 24 yrs of active duty, only did it myself a few times and got a few as well.

That note, was simply respect for another professional from a professional.

When i worked as a bank teller a couple decades ago or more,had a customer who had to have been a colonel or something,he invited myself and i could bring 1 friend, to coronado island and we were there all day actually watching the seal hopefuls train. Everything from the surf to the diving tank to the range. They even had a layout of various gear split into
what they would carry for various mission parameters. My friend and I had huge shit eatting grins, Very cool day!!

Like i said,dont know or remember if i ever was told or found out his rank but he was one cool guy. Once in a lifetime exp for me.
